“Charming Inn with High Standards”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

Spent 3 nights and wanted to stay longer. Great location, with easy walking distance to restaurants and shops of Highlands, and access to some of the most beautiful roads in the region. We traveled by motorcycle throughout the area, but really enjoyed returning to the Inn after a long day's ride. Our room was spotless and fresh every day, soft linens made us fall into bed nightly. Breakfasts were delicious, with choices offered to each guest by the eager staff. This is the place to stay if you want true comfort while enjoying all that Highlands has to offer..

Room Tip: Rooms in the main building offer more charm and room, with the ease of slipping into the Restaurant...

We really enjoyed our stay at The. Main Street Inn in Highlands,N.C. It is very well located in that one can walk to shops, restaurants etc. our room was charming; it was quaintly decorated and most important was the fact that it was spotless. It had a nice little balcony that overlooked the patio and yard. They have wi fi which is important to us.
Our breakfast was delicious. I have dietary concerns and the staff went out of their way to accommodate me. Everything was fresh and made to order.
The owners were extremely nice and helpful. We met a charming older woman who has been staying there for six weeks for several years and the owners treated her like family.
We will stay there again if we return to Highlands

Room Tip: There was no pool or fitness center since it is an Inn. However I checked them by mistake and can...

Just spent a weekend here....All the reviews on here rating this an excellent place to stay and to eat are spot on...nothing I can say that hasn't been said already; it is a great location, wonderful food for dinner as well as for breakfast (see my separate review on The Bistro); Seeing the local bear trying to get into the dumpster (again) on the way to the car after dinner was an added bonus. Great thing I liked was parking and not having to drive again at the end of the day. You can walk to most everything from here...sooo convenient! Live Music from 3-6 (she played until 7) was also a treat, albeit interrupted by a couple of rain showers...that didn't dampen anyone's spirit. A great place to spend some time in Highlands.

I have stayed in this Inn many times and find it's quality consistent and enjoyable. The rooms are comfortable and the air conditioning drowns out the street noises at night/early morning. It is very conveniently located and unlike many Inns, the restaurant is open all day. The included breakfast is a real treat - from fresh biscuits to fancy eggs. Will return same time next year.

An old inn at the end of town. Clean and "updated" but our room in the house was small and very basic. Had to plug the alarm clock in a wall socket in the bathroom. The garbage got picked up early Monday morning and the noise and smell were not welcome.

We have stayed here alot over the years, and our experience has always been excellent...The staff is always friendly and the food is good...The location is right in the heart of Highlands, The onlything that changes for us is the seasons and what beauty they bring.. We think of the Inn as part of our own home..

Room Tip: The rooms with a porch add to the ambiance of the Inn..

Extremely close to all the action of Main St. in Highlands. We walked everywhere on our days in town. The room was very small and seemed a bit crowded, but it was very clean. Breakfast was good with the usual fare of scrambled eggs, biscuits, etc. The staff was friendly, however there is no "front desk" so it was hard to discern where to check in. We enjoyed our stay.

Room Tip: Downstairs rooms are noisy if the crowd in the dining room stays late.
