“Terrific Stay,Again!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2013

Every year I head to one of my favorite destinations - Highlands NC - and stay with my favorite innkeepers, Raleigh and Colin at Highlands House! It is truly a magical place - starting with a fabulous breakfast by the waterfall and ending with cocktails in the very elegant living room.
Raleigh and Colin are very hands-on and love to spend time with their guests! Their stories of 30 years of innkeeping are often hilarious and often very touching!!
I love this place and will always stay there when I travel to the mountains!

Room Tip: Book early as they fill up quickly!

Staying with Colin and Raleigh is such a special experience. We have enjoyed their warmth and graciousness over the years. We have always especially loved having cocktails with them in different areas inside the house or their beautiful gardens. They have a flair for design and have decorated their home with lovely antiques and true elegance. Their wonderful breakfasts are different each day and have been much appreciated. We would highly recommend this B & B to anyone and look forward to our next visit.

Excellent in every respect. Owners Colin and Raleigh are great conversationalist who love learning about their guests. You will come away with great memories. The house itself is amazing. Make sure you also see their collection of porcelain and obelisks. The Waterford crystal chandelier in their great room is spectacular.

Our visit and stay at Highlands House was wonderful. The owners are so accommodating and welcoming, you feel like you're family! You have lots of privacy, with every opportunity to visit with the owners or other guests. The house is very clean, our room with a balcony was very comfortable, and the common areas, such as the living room are delightfully decorated and inviting. The breakfasts are delicious and served in a beautifully decorated dining room. Our experience was so relaxing and peaceful. The cocktails and conversations with the owners were very enjoyable. Their precious pet, Tallulah, and ours,Tulip, got along beautifully; the owners are really neat people who love people and pets! I don't ever want to stay in a hotel/motel again. We will return to Highlands and we will always stay at the Highlands House. This is a most exceptional place to stay in the Highlands area.

Room Tip: All of the rooms are clean and beautiful. Every room has a private bath. Every room has easy access...

We have been coming to Highlands for years and we wish we could turn back the clock and change a decade of history to memories of staying at 101 Potter Lane. The place is simply enchanting, with loving attention to elegant, comfy decor indoors and equally accommodating areas all over the garden. This B & B almost makes you wish for a rainy day just to force you to sit in every room or gazebo, reading, journaling, daydreaming, admiring the beautiful antiques or listening to the soothing waterfalls, not to mention sharing a pot of tea or a fortifying beverage with our genial hosts. Even if you never stepped foot on a hiking trail or in the city shops, your stay in Highlands would be fulfilled. We definitely look forward to returning for another stay with Colin and Raleigh!

Room Tip: We enjoyed the fireplace suite downstairs b/c it gave our dog some space and a reassuring sense of h...

We were delighted and charmed with the King Suite. We had a fireplace, sunken tub, fresh towels, room tidied up quickly, delicious and colorful breakfasts, excellent happy hours and delightful hosts. Our hosts, Colin and Raleigh were pleasant and fun to talk to. The parking was a little challenging due to being up hill, small and raining. But its manageable.
My husband and I went in the first week of July 2013 when it rained most of the time. Our hosts helped us find venues to see during this time. We will go there again.

Room Tip: Try to King size suite with fireplace.

Expect the unexpected at Highlands House B&B. Unique inside and out.
Elegantly furnished but very comfortable. Add the warm personalities of Colin and Raleigh, cocktails with them by the waterfall, new taste sensations at breakfast and you have a total mountain high! We look forward to another stay and have told all our friends about this
great experience.
