“Something changed”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2010

First visit this year and might be our last. Took 20+ minutes to get noticed once we were seated and it went downhill from there. Special appetizer we ordered was mistaken for a salad, that took 10 minutes to correct. Food delivered was nothing special and even misrepresented on the menu. Eggplant lasagna has always been a favorite and it is now a gooey over tomatoed glop- sized for 3 people. There appears to have been a change in front house management and in the kitchen. Wine pairing suggestion was not a hit and again service took forever.

“Paoletti's = #1 restuarant in Highlands!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2010

My husbands family has a home in Highlands, so we've traveled there many times prior to our wonderful dining experience at Paoletti's. I'm embarrassed it took us this long to make it there!
The atmosphere is very warming (small, but quaint) and you may have to wait, but it will be worth it!! If room permits, they have live music as well. The wine list is great, and they have wine tastings on Saturday's as well.
I can't put into words how please and impressed with everything about this place. Even our waiter was exceptional! You don't have waiters like that anymore, no matter what price you're paying it seems. All I can say is OUTSTANDING! We will always be back!

“Food was fantastic!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2010

We did have to wait awhile to be seated even with a reservation. We sat at the bar while we waited. Then decided to just eat at the bar. We had excellent service!! The food is more than worth the wait!! This is one of our favorite places to go when we visit Highlands twice a year!! We've made it a tradition!!

“OMG - Escargot to die for!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 4, 2010

Amidst an inherently romantic location, nestled atop the mountains of Southwestern North Carolina, this gem of a restaurant was a true find on our recent anniversary trip. As we checked into the Old Edwards Inn, across the street, the aromas from the restaurant intoxicated us both. We soon secured a reservation and were taken into this intimate, romantically lit, vibrant food womb. After making a selection from their very comprehensive wine list, we chose the escargot for our appertizer.

NEVER have we had escargot like this - replete with the most amazing garlic/lemon/herb butter, the escargot was, in a word, heavenly, only topped by taking their homemade Italian herb bread and sopping up the wonderful sauce! We will return, if for no other reason, for their escargot!
