“An Unexpected stay at The Chandler.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2012

We were greeted warmly by the innkeeper. We had a delightful conversation about society and politics then went straight to our king suite. It was equipped nicely with a large flat screen television, a fire place (gas logs), a mini fridge, and updated bathroom. The shower head was high enough for a tall person and had exceptional water flow.

The family style breakfast was the high point of the stay. Guests sit around the table and share their travel stories from all over the country and are served casseroles that fill the stomach and warm the soul.

We paid in cash and got everything including tax for less than $85.

Highlands is a delightful little town in a very pretty part of North Carolina. The Chandler Inn fits in well, and gave us a wonderful, quiet night of sleep after a long day of driving. The owner was kind and helpful in every way. The room was warm on a cold night. The bed was incredibly soft, and the morning shower was plentiful and hot. Definitely a good value, relaxed and friendly place to stay.

Room Tip: We had a room at the far back and could only hear birds, no cars.

We've very much enjoyed the two times we've stayed there. The owners are very friendly and they remembered us. The rooms are clean and quaint, the towels are big and soft and the rain showers heads are wonderful!

In the mornings, walk to the dining room for delicious homemade breakfast casseroles. Enjoy your food as you sit by the fire and chat with other guests.

We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: We've stayed in the front suite and we've stayed in the very back. We enjoyed both rooms wit...

Lovely setting outside the rooms with seating, probably very pretty in the spring. We had a gas fireplace in the room that was a nice touch as it was a little rainy and foggy. Very cozy and comfortable. The walk into the downtown area was just a bit father then we expected, probably about 10 minutes at a steady pace, but well lit with sidewalks. Breakfast was good, with an egg casserole and blueberry French toast. They do use Styrofoam plates, not paper, and not china, which was a first for us at a B & B, but now you know, so just expect it! The owner was very friendly and she was helpful with ideas and suggestions on what to do in the surrounding area. We had a lively conversation at breakfast with the other guests at the common table, it was a fun meal.

We spent 3 nights at the Chandler Inn 12/15/11 - 12/18/11. We love the off season in Highlands! Randy and Letty are terrific innkeepers. Our room was clean, cozy, with a seating area and reasonably priced. Breakfast was delicious and different each morning. The inn is quaint with gas log fireplaces, great showers/good water pressure, nice flat TVs and swings or chairs located outside each room. All rooms have their own outside entrance giving guests a bit of privacy. In nice weather, it's an easy walk to Main St. for dining and shopping. We also enjoy the multitude of hiking trails and waterfalls. We will definitely go back and we recommend the Chandler Inn B&B!

The owners were very friendly and fun. The setting was smartly done and the accomodations were wonerfully comfortable. Everything was there and up to date. The breakfast was absolutely scrumptious. We felt the price was very resasonable, same as a boring hotel with less class, style and accomodations. The location was close to town but off the main street to afford quiet and relaxation. I will always return and always recommend!

Room Tip: we looked at three rooms and they all had their charm and needs. we stayed in 101 with a couch, king...

Enjoying the experience is what I look for in our yearly Fall Foliage Tour. Steve and I have just spent two nights at the charming North Carolina Bed & Breakfast, this was our fifth visit there. We enjoy relaxation, uncomplicated experiences, & great locations. The Chandler Inn is located within walking distance of Highland's shopping and art district. The Inn itself has it's unique decor and every room is different, clean and comfortable, some have a swing on the porch or rockers, most have iron or a brass bed. All have good showers and televisions. The delight is always Letty's breakfast, baked french toast & egg soufflé.
