“Best Hosts for many reasons”

We would stay here again for sure. They give you a great breakfast, and have a happy hour with wine, cheese, crackers, etc. where you get to know the other guests. They are a big help with your local plans, where to eat-anything you need. They are on a busy street, but all the good things make that seem minor. There are steps, but they have rooms on the first floor & will carry your luggage up if needed. They also have a good library. You can walk to town-many good places to eat there.

If you like a quaint spot with attentive hosts then you will like 1898 Waverly Inn. Depending on your taste, there may not be a reason to use your car during your stay. This Inn provides an awesome breakfast, a great front porch on the first and second floor, and a very nice afternoon wine and hors d'oeuvres treat. If you are particular about super quiet floors or ultra modern bathrooms - this might not be the place for you. The house is over 100 years old, so a little squeak here and there is not a surprise.

The Inn is in walking distance from downtown Hendersonville, which is a great spot to enjoy a variety of local shops and eating spots. During warmer seasons there are a number of places with outside seating. Within an easy drive you will find an assortment of outdoor adventures and some excellent productions at the Flat Rock Playhouse.

Enjoy! We did.

Room Tip: If you are sensitive to overhead noise you might want to request a room on the third floor. Be prep...

Some time you just need a little quiet time to yourself and this was the perfect place for that.
A beautiful room, great location, and and a very friendly Inn keeper and staff. Also for a woman traveling alone you feel so much safer than staying at a hotel. It was a wonderful 3 night stay. Lots of little extras, coffee, tea, and tastey baked goods are always there for you. Enjoy a glass of wine and meet some of the other quest in the afternoon. If you feel that you need some pampering as I felt I was welled deserved treat yourself to a Spa treatment. You want regret it.
If you think of a Bed and Breakfast as only a romantic place to get away with your true love, think again. All women need a break at least once a year where it can be all about them, and you have full control of the TV remote. You can spend all the time you want enjoying the shops in beautiful Hendersonville, NC. It's ok to sit at a coffee shop by yourself and read or enjoy a meal at the many of the wonderful sandwich shops or restaurants. Monia Lisa is located just across the street from the inn and I enjoyed sitting at the bar having a wonderful meal and on another night take out pizza. So pack up yourself and your wine girls and enjoy a quite relaxing weekend at the beautiful Waverly Inn. You can even suggest this to your husband as agreat gift idea.

The 1898 Waverly Inn was built as an inn and has been in operation since 1898. There are several innkeepers who live on the property. Check-in is easy and flexible. The innkeepers as well as the inn itself are charming. There is a well-stocked library with DVD's that you can check out, and self-service coffee, hot tea, and desserts are available around the clock. The rooms have MP3 players with headphones as well as cable tvs. There is a small refrigerator near the check-in desk which is stocked with canned sodas and water. The refrigerator is available for your use if you need to store anything there.

We stayed in the Mountain Laurel Room which was located on the 2nd floor at the back. This room has both a queen sized bed and a twin bed as well as an enclosed porch which does not have heat. I'm not sure whether the porch has air conditioning or not. The inn was quiet inside, but there was street noise as well as quite a bit of light coming through the blinds and lace curtains. I was concerned about being able to sleep well with the light coming in, but I had no trouble sleeping at all. The queen bed was very comfy and we appreciated the triple sheeting. The rooms are heated with radiators which make gurgling sounds at times but seem to work well. The bath in this room has a claw-foot tub and a shower which is done well.

There is a tasty full breakfast available with several options. When we were there the options were eggs any style, grits, local sausage or bacon, multigrain pancakes with blueberries, and breads, including gluten free bread. The earliest that breakfast is available is 7 am.

I took advantage of a special which provided a free one-hour massage. Mandi the massage therapist provided a wonderful, relaxing massage in a room which was just across the hall from ours on the 2nd floor. I highly recommend her.

Room Tip: This hotel is within walking distance of several good restaurants and shops in Hendersonville. You...

My wife and I stayed there for three nights and had mixed feelings about the whole experience. The inn is old, as its name indicates, but we had not expected the room to have such uneven and creaky floors. Every step elicited a complaint from the boards. However, the room and bathroom were clean, although the bathroom and especially its shower were exceedingly small. The towels were more than adequate.

Another couple with dogs arrived late, and for a reason unknown to us, they were allowed to take the room across the hall from us instead of the isolated room intended for dog owners. They would bark at anybody outside their door. Thankfully they were relocated the day after they arrived.

Breakfasts were pedestrian. It was the same basic menu daily with a different special. Fortunately, everything tasted good. The dining area was very pleasant.

The location was good - right on the edge of the renovated shopping and dining areas. They were within easy walking distance. We could hear the rush hour traffic in the morning, but the address is on Main Street, so some noise is to be expected.

There is a nice social hour each afternoon. Seating is limited, so you may end up standing and chatting after walking all day. Go down early!

I suppose the primary saving grace for the inn is its staff. Without exception they were all very friendly and helpful.

I suggest that the owners sink some of the profits back into the inn for renovations and maintenance, even if it means raising the rates a little.

Thank you for your review, it certainly brought out some points that we need to address. We apologize for the dogs being put in the room across from you. There was a misunderstanding with the late arrival and we were unaware that they had dogs with them until the next morning. When it was brought to our attention, we did move them to the pet friendly room as you indicated.

I am very sorry if our breakfast choices did not meet with your expectations. We try to provide options every day that are simple, fresh, and varied. Let us know if you have a suggestion for something you think we should be offering!

We will check on the floors in that room and see if something can be done about the squeaking floorboards. We appreciate your letting us know that is an issue we need to attend to.

oh, were we happy to pull up at the Waverly Inn-the welcome was so warm, I knew I was in the South. Such a great historic site and Diane knows just how to make each guest happy. I certainly was happy, breakfast was great and I will definitely return.

We first stayed at the 1898 Waverly Inn in December, 2011 and had an wonderful time. The location of the Inn is perfect for exploring Hendersonville, a charming town with great restaurants. Everything is in walking distance. We drove to the Biltmore and to Carl Sandburg's home. This visit was just as good. The Inn is beautiful and there is nothing left for a guest to want; it's in the room or available. The rooms are tastfully decorated and comfortable. Breakfast is delicious and cooked to order. The afternoon wine and cheese is an added plus--sharing the day's adventures with other guests is a fun way to to make new plans. We love Diane and Darla. We will return!!
