Everything about Melange is wonderful - elegant, warm, and welcoming inside and out, beautiful grounds, and superb food. In its celebration of European, Mediterranean, and American cultures with stained glass, beautiful antiques and lamps, and gorgeous colors everywhere, it is a feast for the senses and a world unto itself. Mehmet and Lale are consummate hosts, attentive to every need, charming, funny and kind. Our daughter and her fiance's choice of Melange as the site for their outdoor wedding was inspired - and affordable. The inn housed our wedding couple, both sets of parents and the best woman and best man and their spouses. We were provided with gourmet breakfasts (normal for Melange), rehearsal dinner for 25 in the romantic Mediterranean Courtyard, and reception dinner for 100+ guests in the Pavilion; the service was seamless all weekend. We parents of the bride stayed on an extra 3 days, and found that Melange provides the same wonderful level of attention to regular guests. We had a difficult choice of the 5 rooms in which to stay, as they are all beautifully and richly decorated, some with Jacuzzis, some with large porches (which are very romantic by candlelight), one with a fireplace, several with book-filled shelves, and one huge room with 3 dormers all the way across the top of the house. The spacious but intimate common rooms, marvels of color, style, and comfort, feel like home in a way that home never is. With dense plantings of azaleas, rhododendrons, roses, other foliage and trees, the grounds are private, restful, and very inviting. Regular guests would not notice the Pavilion, tucked away beyond a vined garden arch, which with its many panels of differently-designed tiled panels in blues and turquoises on latticed "walls" and stained glass light fixtures, seated over 100 guests with plenty of room for dancing. Melange is a fantastic experience, not just a place to stay, and we'd stay there again in a heartbeat! (And this is to say nothing of being in the Blue Ridge Mountains and all of the associated outdoor opportunities, or the funky downtown shopping a few blocks away, or the Folk Art museum and the Biltmore House and the antiques district in nearby Asheville, or............)!
