On the recommendation of staff at the Mountain Inn, my husband and I strolled around the pedestrian mall in Hendersonville looking for dinner. We were pleasantly surprised to find the Cypress Cellar. Since I was temporarily using a cane, the stairs were a bit of a challenge. There is no elevator, and since it was raining, the patio outside was not a good option. But we persevered and were happy we did! At the bottom of the stairs, we found a room with lots of dark wood, an great-looking wooden bar across one wall, and tables and booths thoughtfully separated for quiet discussion. Since it was the middle of the week, there was no live music, but the recorded music was pleasant and not too loud for conversation. The waiter was knowledgeable, and gave us good advice about beer and food choices. I loved my fish taco, and the side of red beans and rice was pretty good. If you are staying at one of the motels near the highway, instead of catching dinner at one of the chains nearby, I would highly recommend wondering around delightful downtown Hendersonville and trying the Cypress Cellar.
