After spending the afternoon hiking in DuPont we decided to wander over to Flat Rock out of curiosity. We started getting hungry so we did a quick search and this place popped up. We hadn't read any reviews and didn't expect much.
The staff was exceptionally friendly, polite and professional. The outdoor seating was very comfortable and relaxing. At no point were we ever rushed. Michael was our waiter and he was very knowledgable of the food and brews. Initially, we were going to order platters to eat in and pizza to take home because we simply couldn't decide. He changed our mind, so we ended up ordering two pizzas to eat in. My wife had a cheese pizza and I ordered a red sauce pizza with sausage and onions (i forget the name). The were absolutely delicious! The crust was awesome. The sauce was awesome. One of the best wood-stove pizzas I've ever enjoyed. I'm so glad we went with the pizzas.
However, we couldn't walk out without dinner in tow. So, we ordered the pull-pork platter with mac-and-cheese and collards as well as the brisket with BBQ beans and mash. At 10pm we started getting hungry again and decided to heat up a little of our dinner for a snack. We devoured it all! The brisket was the best I've ever had even after being nuked. Everything was superior.
We spent a week in the area and unfortunately discovered it on our last day. It would be worth a trip back just to try the rest of the stuff on the menu as well as some of the other beers on tap. If you are visiting DuPont Park, this is a must visit after. Our cabin was south of Brevard and it was well worth the hour drive back.
