Lovely shop. Looks like an old mining house. Plenty of water flumes for sluicing with roof overhead. Antiques, furniture, dishes, even old postcards! Beautiful selection of gems and fossils from which to choose, at significantly lower prices than in Asheville shops. Quite a few large museum size and quality fossil and amethyst pieces. Family run business, lovely people. Got a $60 bucket and we played with that for well over an hour. The photos are absolutely representative of what you get. Tons of stones and variety even some fairly large(3") fossil bits. I must have come away with well over 15 lbs. of stones including garnet, ruby, pyrite, emerald and a dozen other types including a geode. Uncle Joe expertly cracked the geode for us, perfectly preserving the quite unusual long delicate crystals inside. All stones were in the expected natural state of course. Lots of time with Rachel who explained every single stone! A special shout out to Uncle Joe who made our visit extraordinary :-)
