“Cool museaum!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

The pirate exhibit is so awesome. The life-sized pirates seem to look right through you! The kids will love it.

“Be prepared to read.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012 via mobile

I enjoyed it, but you have to be prepared to read. The exhibits don't interpret themselves.

It is a simple set up but lots of fascinating history.

My older kids (14 and 12) enjoyed it. My two youngest (8 and 4) were mostly bored. But there was a lot of open safe space form them to wander without hurting anything.

Takes a good hour to get through the things you are interested in. Probably two to read it all.

“Very interesting and informative”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012

What a great place to spend some time in! It was very interesting and informative and had excellent exhibits but the Frenal light from the original Cape Hatteras lighthouse was the highlight for me. Do yourself a favor and check out this museum which is free but donation is requested.

“Quality museum with good exhibits”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

We loved this - lots of WW2 Hatteras history and some newer things too. The old hatteras light is a joy to see and even the parking lot has some stones explaining the civil war in Hatteras. Staff friendly and helpful even when we arrived 15 minutes before closing. Good gift shop. Well worth second visit -as this was for me.

“Excellent source of history”

Free admissions but donations are encouraged. A very good exhibit on sunken ships during the Civil War era.
