“The very best B&B I have ever stayed in”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2014

This is the very best B & B that I have ever stayed in. Marti is the Chef and could not have been nicer. He was a GREAT host. The breakfast was wonderful. The beds were also great. Will go back there when they have room for us. I also am a chef and my wife and I took his cooking class and it was wonderful. Please go there and enjoy yourself as much as we did.

We found this Inn through TravelZoo and I bought an overnight stay plus cooking classes. We enjoyed meeting Chef Marti and the other two ladies with whom we cooked. We spent all afternoon cooking, chatting and eating our rustic pizza, Greek salad and creme brulee. We live about an hour away and were specifically coming to cook and sleep over, not be tourists. We did visit the very nearby Kings Mountain National Military Park and it was enlightening.
We stayed in the Cleaveland Room which is quite large, has a king size bed and a private bathroom. The rooms are decorated with different themes and we enjoyed roaming around to see the memorabilia. It was fun to hear about the "behind the scenes" stories that Chef Marti had about the military, being a White House chef and meeting so many dignitaries. While it isn't the "Ritz" as another reviewer mentioned, Chef Marti and his wife Stormy, and children JT an Rania have made the Inn an experience- a place to learn about history and some of our Presidents, to pick herbs form their garden, visit their gift shops, and just relax on the porch in a rocking chair. The personal attention was superb, and breakfast in the morning held us through most of the day- angel food cake french toast, think sliced bacon, oatmeal, coffeecake and fancy potatoes.

Room Tip: We liked the Cleaveland with the private bathroom.

My husband and I decided to getaway for our 12 year wedding anniversary to a place away from the traditional resort commercialized hotel. We found this B&B and were very happy. It is different from a hotel because you get personal attention. Upon arrival the owner Chef Mart, Executive chef to the US Presidents Bush and Clinton, met us to greet us and show us around alittle. We had came pretty late so it was nice to be greeted with a smile at that hour. In our room, which was small but clean and pretty we had a complimentary plate of various cheeses, a box of chocolates, and our favorite bottle of champagne. We nestled in the backyard enjoying the great warm night and quietness with our bottle and snacks! It was a great first evening. The next morning Chef Marti prepared a four course breakfast including a special homemade ketchup that was amazing! (I never took home any ketchup :-(
After breakfast we enjoyed going to a small local winery where we sampled a few glasses of wine and enjoyed the great history of it all. We also went to a great outdoor recreation where they had water rafting, kayaking, zip lining just a great place, we finished off the evening by going to a great restaurant. The next day we again had a great breakfast, a tour, and my favorite activity of it all was a cooking class given by Chef Marti where we learned to make a great deep dish pizza from scratch! This place is fun! It is not your normal routine hotel. It was nice to get history information from someone who not only appreciates our culture but from someone who enjoys what he does. The house was clean and comfortable, the food was great and the history lesson was awesome. Some people may not appreciate this place if they don't have an understanding of history or culture.

I had the pleasure of staying at this B&B recently and I found the food to be as good as what the President eats and that's because the owner cooked for the White House at Camp David! The rooms are very clean and their historic home is nestled back in a quiet neighborhood. You will love it!

Been to several bed & breakfast in different states, Found The Inn of the Patriots has been the most exciting & filled with lots of history. The breakfast food in three words WOW,WOW,WOW, until you had angel food french toast for breakfast you haven't lived the finer life ---most delicious. I thought I made good french toast, but Chef Marti was the best.

Traveling from the North, my husband and I stayed in May of 2014. Colonial enthusiasts, we were impressed to see so many historical collectibles and artifacts. Owners and history buffs, Chef Marti and wife, Stormy, took us on a personal tour through each room of the museum and shared their knowledge and personal stories of former Presidents, Colonial artifacts and folk stories passed from generations, which was very entertaining. Chef Marti, a former Camp David Chef for President Clinton, and his staff prepared an amazing full breakfast each morning. Our room was very clean, fresh linens and a private bathroom (which we have found is not always typical of a B&B). The staff was very professional, attentive and personable. We truly enjoyed our stay at The Inn of the Patriots!
