“Great experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2013

We've been visiting the island twice, and stood at the same hotel. Great services, great view from the room, great beach, and excellent food. For the first time in my life i ate mussels. I don't ike seafood, but the chefs recipes was magnificent!
This year we came with some friends and they would't leave the place (especially the beach) for visiting anything else! They had everything they needed right there :)
What i liked the most was that you can do lots of summer sports right here. At the hotel you can do scuba diving and near by windsurf, kitesurf and so on.
For me and my husband is a perfect place for a summer vacation :)

You and your husband are wonderful people and it it always a pleasure to have you at our hotel and restaurant. The chef is always happy to make new dishes for you. It is nice of you to send, also your friends who also really enjoyed themselves. Looking forward to seeing you soon again.

I have been to Greece several times but until I discovered Andros I was thinking about it as a nice country but nothing very spectacular. Now I just love it and looking forward to go back.
I stayed at Perrakis Hotel, the place looked great, the stuff was very friendly and proactive, the room was clean and looked wonderful (much better than other hotels I stayed in Greece), the food was delicious while the beach is 1 minute away.
The terrace of the hotel is decorated as a boat, we spent few evenings there delighted but the view of the sea with small islands in the distance.
I highly recommend it!

Our room was clean (and had an iPOD docking station and several toiletries - even a sewing kit), the view from our balcony of the beach below was beautiful, and the restaurant onsite was delicious (though a bit of a splurge price-wise). The hotel staff member who assisted us throughout our two-night stay spoke English pretty well and was helpful in recommending an area to hike during the day we spent on Andros. However, we asked if they offered laundry service and she said yes, she could send our laundry to the place their hotel sends their laundry and it would be ready the following morning. We asked how much it would cost and she said she didn't know because it depends on the items we have. That should have been our first clue, but we were desperate to do laundry and had been washing our clothes in the sink the past couple of days, and we figured it couldn't be THAT pricey (we had read for the amount of clothing we had it would be about 10 euros in Mykonos, the next place we were headed). Upon our checkout the following morning, we received our laundry and the staff member apologized profusely; our bill was about 80 euros! She said she was able to talk them into giving us a slight discount because she tried to tell them how expensive that was, but it was not more than several euros discount. Apparently there are not many places to do laundry on the island, so they can charge whatever they want. We advised her that in the future, she should find out ahead of time what the costs will be for her guests so her guests can make the decision as to whether the ballpark cost would be reasonable, instead of going through with something that is extremely expensive and that she admittedly felt was the case! We felt it was poor form on her behalf to not offer to eat a portion of the cost. My boyfriend joked that his most expensive souvineer from our two-week journey in Greece was our laundry (which, actually, ended up being true!). Overall, it's a pretty nice hotel to stay at, but our laundry experience really put bad tastes in our mouths and we left feeling like we'd been taken advantage of.

As far as the location, it's bit of a drive from any of the main areas on the island. If we had to do it over again, we'd stay in one of the hotels on the main strip of Mpatsi (pronounced "Batsi" in English) or Andros (the town), where restaurants and shops were walkable distance.

Unfair review... We do not offer laundry service yet at Hotel Perrakis since we do not have our own on site facilities. I personal am very sorry that you were over charged, the going rate for the amount of clothes you gave should of been 40 to 50 euros and NOT 80. The laundry service name is "Katsikis Laundry". The girl at the reception was simply trying to help you and I personally do not understand since you liked the Hotel how come you gave us such a low score based on an indecent that was not related to the hotel. We were only trying to help make your holidays more relaxing.

I have just returned from a wonderful October weekend break at the Perrakis Hotel in Andros Greece. Not much to do on the Island at this time except drive around or just relaxing practically doing nothing, which is fantastic for one to recoup. The room was good and very clean and the balcony offered a relaxing view of both the sea and the mountains. Breakfast on Sunday offered a varied choice and all the staff were very courteous. No restaurant service at this time of year but one can get a good meal in Gavrio which is just a few minutes away by car.I could not help but notice that both Electra and Philip went the extra mile to make ones stay a memorable one. Will return.

Philip met us at the Perrakis Creperie in the port, Gavrio, and ferried us the 10 minute drive back to the hotel. It overlooks a good sandy beach whilst the rooms are clean and spacious with good facilities. Unfortunately, they do not include a kettle so early risers will have to wait for breakfast to get their caffeine fix. But breakfast and dinner provided the usual Greek offerings. As alternatives, there are good and inexpensive tavernas in Gavrio and Batsi and there is also one within about a half hour walk overlooking a small church on the water edge, on the second bend on the Batsi road. As an overview, a car, preferably a 4x4, is essential, particularly as most surfaced roads stop several kilometres short of the more interesting places, with (steep) dirt tracks continuing. A knowledge of the Greek alphabet will help - most road signs do not include English subtitles.
Philip was informative with suggestions and this was a very pleasant 5 night stay. Whilst remaining warm and welcoming to visitors, it quickly becomes apparent that the Greeks want to keep this island to themselves - tourism is very low key, which, for us, is its greatest asset.

Having first been to this hotel 15 years ago and liked it a lot for its basic intrinsic qualities I was positively surprised that it has gotten even better through a stylistic and very functional upgrading. And all that without compromising its core virtues. An incredibly beautiful spot, access to a great beach, and the best of the Greek hospitality tradition with a cosmopolitan flair. Many beautiful spots, a good beach, a scuba club complement its virtues. The rooms are spotless and very convenient, and the superior rooms with Terrance overlooking the Aegean are absolutely superb. And staff attitude is really welcoming orchestrated by two generations of the Perrakis family.

The hotel has been very well thought out - with lots of attractive seating areas on different levels all with wonderful views. The pool has good quality loungers and the beach bar plays great music and provides towels, bats and balls and free loungers. The bedrooms are spacious with comfy mattresses and pillows, great views and a huge shower. Towels are fluffy and bathroom products good quality. We were in the first room as you come from the reception and bar area but we heard no noise at night. Although Batsi is close by we felt that we had all we needed at the hotel particularly as the food at the restaurant was excellent and the prices not that different to local tavernas. There is a half board option available and the buffet looked very good. A great choice for Andros - don't hesitate.
