“Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2007

We stayed at the Harborlight as a little romantic getaway, and we thought it was wonderful. The owners are very nice people who seem to really enjoy the job. The breakfast was super! I know that an earlier reviewer said that they didn't like the breakfast served in the room, but (at least during the warmer weather) you have the option of eating on the porch/deck, and we enjoyed that immensely. It was relaxing, and they had a newspaper out there for us every morning. We actually saw dolphins in the harbor while eating!! The food was great. The only complaint we had was that one of the staff was smoking cigarettes nearby, but we are talking about the South after all. Another great thing about the place is the location. The harbor is so beautiful, and the owners gave us use of their two-person cayak. If you think about it, that gave us a really cool activity for the whole day, and it was free! We had a great time kayaking. Also, when we went to Bear island the owners lent us beach chairs, umbrella, etc - all for free! It was great, and we really appreciated it. The room was clean and spacious. Visually this is not a 'cute and charming' style B&B (like an old-fashioned Victorian look), but rather more of a beach-town fun-and-relaxing sort of place. We didn't use the jaccuzi because that is not our thing, so we can't speak on that. The HarborLight is great and you will love it!

The four days we spent at the Harborlight Guest House was truly a reconnection for us. Awesome, Breathtaking, Amazing, Gratifying and Delightful are the only words that should be used when describing the Harborlight Guest House. We were accommodated by both Debbie & Bob in every way possible and made to feel right at home. Yet, we were given the privacy to acheive the romantic time we set out to have. Even though there were many activities in the surrounding areas to do, with the ocean views we had in the Emerald Suite, we choose to stay in and enjoy and take every moment together with those views. The Harborlight Guest House was Impeccably clean, light and airy. The breakfast each morning was one to be desired!!! I thought it was great, even though we choose to stay inside your cleaning staff still came in and cleaned and gave us clean linen! What a delightful experience! We plan to visit at least once a year, this type of environment will surely keep a couple reconnected!!!

We stayed her one night for our annivesary. We were very disappionted. The room was very nice and clean. We came in from a night out and I wanted to soak in the jacuzzi but found a sign that said no bath after a certain time. The breakfast was average and did not like having it served in our room. People were in and out of our room all morning. It gave us no privacy. We did not feel welcome in the common areas. We did not like the tip enevelope in the room. We stay in a lot of bed and breakfast. We did not care for this one at all.

The Harborlight Guesthouse in Cape Carteret, North Carolina is a true gem! There are only seven rooms, so there isn't noise and disruption. It's located on the waterfront of Bogue Sound, offering spectacular water views. The sunrises and sunsets are breathtaking. The owners of this wonderful place will go out of their way to make sure your stay is comfortable. They will make all reservations for you, suggest places to visit and dine. Rooms have jacuzzi style tubs and/or fireplaces. Kids are not permitted, so it's perfect for that get-away with that special someone. I never thought I would want to vacation in the same place year after year, but this Ohioan has changed her mind about that. I cannot wait to go back!

Very pretty & peaceful with a great view. In my opinion, it was overpriced - especially considering the water view is not an ocean view. But it was a great getaway with a beautiful room! We had the large suite on the top floor with a private veranda. Very nice!
