“Interesting museum!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 23, 2013

Friend and I were there to see the GONE WITH THE WIND exhibit!
Small, but very well done with an interesting add-on Civil War exhibit. Beautiful facility! Worth the trip from VA Beach!

“Great museum but underutilized”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2013

This is a great place but you get the feeling it is underutilized given the space. Lots of local information you can't get elsewhere. It would be great if more people knew about it and it is located downtown and near the waterfront which is all walkable.

“First time in years!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

My hometown museum, but hadn't been there since they moved to their new, spacious waterfront facility. As a local history buff, I was quite satisfied to see the local counties and Elizabeth City in particular well represented, from the Colonial period to the present. Not only having the permanent main gallery containing local artifacts, there are rotating exhibits, some of which come directly from the flagship North Carolina Museum of History facility in Raleigh. MOA is truly an invaluable resource that few other comparably-sized towns in the country are blessed to have!

“A Wonderful Unexpected Treat”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

This is a wonderful museum as good as the state history museum in Raleigh. We spent a long afternoon here and learned quite a bit about the area. Great pottery displays, historical artifacts and a nice little gift shop. Well worth your time if you're even mildly interested.
