“Our stay was wonderful...we didn't want to leave!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2011

My husband and I wanted to break up our drive from PHL to Myrtle Beach. I was searching for a reasonable hotel that would be halfway to our destination. I was getting frustrated about the prices and reviews of hotels when my husband suggested I look at B&Bs. We determined that Edenton was about halfway so I began my search. When the Granville Queen popped up and I studied their website, I immediately called and had a
wonderful chat with the innkeeper, Dora. She was very helpful and accomodating, so we booked one night and it was WONDERFUL. The breakfast was fantastic! The room was so comfortable and charming. The Inn is in the heart of Edenton's historic district and we could have easily spent a few days there. We hated to leave and will certainly go back if we are ever in that part of NC again. Check it out! www.granvillequeen.com.
All the information is there...phone, rates and pictures! It was a real treat!

This is a beautiful B&B! There are 7 bedrooms, and we were able to look at all of them when vacant, and each room is charming and well decorated. The Inn is very clean, and they offer tea, coffee, cookies, etc. in addition to the breakfast. The staff is very courteous and accommodating. The breakfast is delicious and very filling! No need for lunch! This Inn is located within walking distance of the historic town of Edenton, where we ate at some good restaurants, shopped and saw a movie at an old movie theater. It was a fun, relaxing trip, and staying at the Granville Queen made it extra special. We will definitely stay here again in the future.

Stayed two nights and really loved it. We had a second floor corner room that was attractive and filled with light. The bed was comfortable and there were chairs with a little tea table just perfect for relaxing. The bathroom was surprising large with a separate soaking tub and shower. It was particularly nice to sit on the big front porch with a cool drink, some of their delicious homemade cookies and a magazine. The breakfasts both mornings were absolutely delicious and BIG. Sitting on the sun porch and being served wonderful foods by very pleasant young ladies was especially nice. It was also very convenient to have very ample parking as well.

I hope to one day have the opportunity to return.

We stayed at the Granville Queen for a wedding hoping to have a restful stay for the weekend. It was not to be. We were rudely reminded that check out time was 11:00 before we were even shown our room. "we want you out of here by 11:00". then before leaving for the weding that evening, we inquired about a taxi service and told " if you come in late you better be quiet" Now mind you, we are not teenagers but rather 40 somethings of good social standing. For the money charged for the room, I would have liked a better reception from the owners, particularly from the wife. She could definitely use some lessons in manners/southern hospitality. Also, for such a well decorated room, I was surprised at the really cheap and dirty showerhead.

We truly enjoyed our stay at this inn. The building itself was exquisite in its 100 year old details and the furnishings were also very well done. It really did "take you back" which is the best respite of all. The town needs no comment, it is very well documented......... it is an American historical gem and you do not wish to ever leave. We loved it so much that we are returning very soon.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay at the Granville Queen Inn. We have stayed in many B&Bs, and this is one of the nicest ever. The whole inn, including the guest rooms, is immaculate. Our room was beautifully furnished and decorated with evidence of Dora's wonderful eye for color. The bath was large and also extremely clean; and we also appreciated the clean, fresh fragrance of the bath towels.
Breakfast, served on the porch, was an event. We were offered a choice of 2 delicious entrees, and breakfast even ended with a serving of sherbet. The staff were accommodating and pleasant. Homebaked goodies are available in the afternoons.
David provided directions for strolling around town and recommendations for dinner. The inn is within walking distance of everything; what a pleasure to park your car in the inn lot and walk wherever you want to go in town.
This is a Great Find -- Enjoy!!
