“Beautiful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

How grateful we were that the parishioners of this church allow visitors to come in to see the beautiful church and walk through the surrounding cemetery. The stained glass behind the alter is one of the most beautiful I have ever seen.

“Historical and thriving church”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2012

St. Paul's is a beautiful church, with an historical cemetery (several governors and the owner of the slave-girl Harriet Jacobs are buried there) and ancient magnolia trees in the churchyard. The church is worth visiting for more than historical reasons, as the congregation is active and thriving.

“Beautiful church and interesting cemetery.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2012

This is a beautiful, old church located across from the Visitor's Center on Broad Street. There is a gorgeous chancel window of stained glass that dates to the 1850's. It is an active church, but you can enter the front doors without being on a tour. The churchyard dates to 1722. Parts look empty because many of the old tombstones were made of wood and have deteriorated. Beautiful trees with interesting roots cover the ground. Look under the magnolias for the Governors Graves.

“speaks for itself”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2011

upon entering this great church, one is taken back to the historical times when the town was first founded. The surrounding cemetery is truly a walk in time.
