“Charming and comfortable Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

The Pack House Inn consists of three distinctly different structures: The Lord Proprietor's is a traditional historic house turned into a B&B, with lovely rooms (into which we peeked) furnished in tasteful antiques, each with a private bath with a tub/shower combination; The Pack House Inn is an early 20th century tobacco farm building, moved to the site and repurposed into a comfortable, quiet, and charming inn building with eight suites; and The Tillie Bond Cottage, which contains just two bedchambers, as well as the breakfast dining rooms. The suite in which we stayed, in the Pack House, had a comfortable sitting area with a coffee table, a very spacious bath with a standard-sized tub and separate over-sized walk-in shower, and a very comfortable memory foam king-sized bed. A 24 hour guest kitchen off the central sitting room offers coffee, tea, water, ice, with actual cups and glasses. The innkeepers are gracious and friendly, while not being overly intrusive. As there were very few guests on Thanksgiving weekend, we were treated to breakfasts cooked to order, with fresh fruit AND chocolate pound cake for breakfast dessert (!) rather than the usual buffet. Edenton is a history nerd's dream location! Don't miss Lake Mattamuskeet, about 50 miles south, in Hyde County, for unforgettable migratory bird watching and photo ops.

We had a very enjoyable stay at The Pack House Inn. it was just a short walk to points of interest in the Edenton downtown area. We were too late arriving in town to take advantage of the trolley tour and unfortunately had to leave fairly early the next morning, but we'll definitely stay at The Pack House Inn if we make a return trip to Edenton.

After reading the write up in the Southern Living magazine I was expecting great things. Upon arrival I was given an envelope with my key and dismissed. My room was adequate though the towels smelled strongly of chlorine. I've stayed at the other two B & B's here in Edenton and both had wonderful breakfasts so I figured this would be a high light. Given a choice I asked for eggs over easy instead of the eggs benedict. I was served a reconstructed version minus the sauce with fruit that was a bit past it's prime. Again, disappointed.

Upon arrival, we were greeted coldly and told our room was not ready. He had checked the wrong room. When we returned we were not given the complementary bottle of wine. The paint in the room was peeling as was the wallpaper in the bathroom. When asked about the wine and cheese advertised in brochure we were treated as a nuisance and told they don't do that anymore. The kitchen had three almost empty boxes of stale crackers and cookies. Breakfast was rubbery pancakes and cold eggs.

My wife and I stayed here and enjoyed it quite a lot! The room we stayed in was nicely appointed with antiques, the downstairs library is nice to sit and chill in. Breakfast was good both days and the staff was courteous and helpful. Coffee, tea and drinks are always available. It is an easy walk down to the waterfront where you can find many choices of shops and restaurants. I would stay their again!

This was a first for me, staying in a bed and breakfast! Now I am totally spoiled having spent some time in this wonderful Inn. Not only was it comfortable, but it was filled with all the acoutrements of the era, turn of the 19th century. The living area was a spacious warm place centered around
a beautiful grand piano which I happily played. The details of the decor, harking back to the heydays of tobacco growing, were reminiscent of old North Carolina. The host, a chef himself, served wine and cheese upon our arrival and a sumptuous breakfast the next morning in another lovely building whose setting was especially delightful. The bedroom and bath were spacious and airy, modernized but in keeping with the rest of this restored pack house .Edenton is a gem itself so the location of the Inn makes it easy to explore the town return to rest if need be and relax on the porch rocking chairs overlooking the garden, the Model T Ford, and the quiet streets.

Couldn't have asked for a better place for an anniversary weekend away. Quaint, quiet and very relaxing! A short walk from downtown. Dinner at Waterman's Grill was outstanding!
Breakfast was much more than could have been imagined. We stayed in the newest addition - Lord Proprietor's Inn!
