We traveled to Durham for the Duke Basketball Camp. We have three boys who attended the camp by day and stayed with us a night. The Washington Duke Inn was beautiful,quaint,clean and friendly. If you like to golf this would also be the place to stay in Durham. The food was very good, of course like every other hotel restaraunt the price to eat is high, but a very good breakfast. The only negative was the pool. The Inn has a small indoor pool, and a outdoor pool across the parking lot (Duke Faculty family club)
It was ok , a lot of little kids, not really for teens(the week we were there.) Overall this was a lovely place to stay and we will be going back!

We enjoyed every moment of our stay at the Washington Duke Inn. The common places were beautiful, warm and inviting. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The grounds (the trail, golf course, pool, sun deck...) were all amazing. Durham itself does not have all that much to offer, but this hotel might bring us back for more enjoyment. I give it a perfect 10.

Not worthy of its stars! We're amazed at the glowing reviews we read about this hotel. Here's a list of what we found wanting: Very noisey plumbing (we were told by staff it needs replacing), water turned completely off for long periods during the days ( staff left a message on our phone telling us it would be back on in several hours), lots of noise from hallways audible in rooms, heat not working in our room for two of our four days - it got to 54 degrees one night although we set it at 80 (William from engineering was kind and apologetic), room cleaning not done in a timely fashion even though we were out of our rooms for most of the day (when we called we were told staff works until 5,not to expect earlier cleaning), inadequate bathroom and drawer storage, and lights burned out in room. We were with a large group, and everyone had similar complaints about their rooms.

So why did we give it a positive rating at all? Because of the beauty of the property, comfortable beds, the positive attitude of the staff, and the golf course.

Beautiful hotel right on Duke's campus. The lobby and registration services were very nice. The rooms are beautiful, but very small. A hotel this nice really should replace the double beds with queens it is surprising to still find doubles at this level.

We booked online using Trip Advisor and got an amazing rate. I would highly recommend going this route, otherwise the rooms are quite pricey.
