We were a bit hesitant about the Hilton but after seeing on their website that they were renovating we phoned and spoke to the staff who told us the renovation was all but complete, so we booked. Glad we did! Arrived late in day( In August 2004) and welcomed to warm lobby with mostly new furniture ( a few pieces were from pre-renovation but should be all replaced by now) and a very nice front desk staff and warm cookies! Room was fresh, clean & newly renovated, as was bathrom. Bed was heavenly with high quality cotton damask triple sheeted beds and huge down bedding and lots of good quality pillows. The most comfortable bed ever! Room service was typical Hilton fare...good but not outstanding. We did find that our room did not have coffee for the coffee maker and when we called to the front desk they informed us that the food services was out of packets and so in the morning they sent a complimentary large carafe of delicious coffee, nicely presented. Hotel seemed to go out of it's way to be 1st class and we would certainly stay there again. The only reason we are not rating this hotel 5 "dots" is that there were still a few renovations that needed completeing before it was top notch. Be sure to ask for a renovated room and you will be very happy!
