This was, bar none, the WORST hotel I have ever stayed in. We checked out early due to the gross state of the rooms.

In just one bedroom in the suite, we had dirt and other stains smeared on the walls, bugs in the corners of the room and windowsill, random hair on the bathroom floor (and different colors of hair, so it made me think they hadn't cleaned the bathroom in quite a while), and hair on my pillowcase. As well, the pillowcase smelled sweaty, like they hadn't changed it in quite a while. My blanket also had random "crusty" spots that I hoped weren't what I thought they were.

The kitchen in the suite was so rundown that I didn't want to touch anything. We found a spider in the kitchen sink, and in one of the rooms.

The nightstand had cigarette burns, and the entire suite smelled like a chain smoker lived there (I'm guessing from its prior use as a nursing home). They did make an attempt to spray tons of air freshener in there to cover the smoke smell, but it really then just smelled of perfume and smoke. Needless to say, I woke up with a raging headache the next morning.

We stayed there one night, and had we not checked in at 1am, I would have checked back out immediately. Upon waking up, we did check out right away and moved to the Comfort Inn down the street, which was MUCH better. When we raised the issues with the front desk at Crestwood Suites, they seemed less than surprised.

Here are the things wrong with this hotel.

1) Dingy and VERY VERY VERY damp. The smell of mold on the first floor is AWFUL.

2)No more breakfast.

3)Used to be an assisted living place. So you need to walk a long way to your room. Need a map to get there too.

4)Staff just assumes you know how to get to your room. ASK DIRECTIONS

5) Not really that close to the airport. Then again nothing really is.

This might be good if you are off the first floor(less mold) and need a long stay. As it has a kitchen and full bath (use to be apartments.) I wouldn't recommend it though.

I was a bit nervous booking this hotel as it has few reviews but I am sure glad I did.

We were looking for a hotel that had suites as we were traveling with a larger party. I was able to book a two bedroom suite for a very reasonable price through expedia.

Our great experience began at check in-we were promptly waited on and had keys in hand in a little less than 5 minutes. The room was great- two full size bedrooms each with its own queen bed and two full size bathrooms. This was great with the kids. The two bedrooms were connected with a kitchenette and living room. We had a total of 3 TVS in the suite. The linens were fresh and clean.

If I were to stay in the area again I will be staying here again!

We needed a hotel for one night that was close to RDU airport but not
too expensive. We found the Crestwood at a great rate and booked it. We were not disappointed. It was an easy drive from the airport and although it was not signposted from the highway it was still easy to find at the end of a small cul-de-sac. Very nice exterior & lobby and
check-in was a breeze. The room was very large. Bedroom with a queen bed & TV, living area with sofa bed, TV, bathroom and kitchen area with fridge, micro & dishwasher. Rooms are located in blocks built around a central courtyard which is quite pleasant and has an outdoor
pool. There are plenty of fast food places very close by to get a snack as well as a Golden Corral buffet down the street a little. Would stay at again if in the Raleigh/Durham area.

I wrote this review realizing that modern luxury accomodations are very sparse in the Durham Area. The Hawthorn is a older property that does the best it can . The rooms are stale and show their age, as does the public areas. Most of the Staff and management are indifferent to the guests. Their "buffet" breakfast consists of frozen style french toasts and pancakes, cold cerals, yogurts etc..just do yourself a favor and go to the Waffle House or Golden Corral nearby ! This is simply the hotel that time forgot.
