The cuisine is Contemporary American, seasonally focused and ingredient driven. Our menu changes daily based on what is currently available. Our mission is to provide access to well prepared, sustainably raised, local food. We use only local produce, seafood and meats from sustainable businesses to showcase the diversity of North Carolina foodstuffs. We focus on sourcing the best ingredients from local, sustainable producers with our guide being Coon Rock Farm. We are an elegantly casual restaurant that welcomes both the everyday diner as well as the special occasion gathering.

“Very special eatery!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2014

Their selling point is All locally grown...and they carry it off to perfection. Not just an herb plant in the back garden, but fish and meat, and veggies. Fine dining quality. Staff are particularly friendly and knowledgable (which counts when it's locally grown!) Drinks also are definitely a cut above..some very unusual, but tasty, concoctions. Had to have seconds. :-)

Will not return to the area without stopping here. It's a must do!

“Lovely surprise”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2014 via mobile

To be honest, didn't expect to like the restaurant so much!
Had dinner with a friend, went early (had reservation), were greeted by a friendly hostess, the menu had ample number of items to offer and not too many! The service was really good and the wine selection was thoughtful.
I enjoyed my meal and since we went there early, we were able to hear ourselves talk! Sorry, had to add the last part!

“Best Bites Ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

Piedmont tops my list for Best Meals of 2013. The food coming out of the kitchen at this Durham gem is inspired, as beautiful to look at as it is to eat. Chef Ben Adams came on board early in the year, soon followed by General Manager Crawford Leavoy. The two make a terrific team and ensure that the front-of-house experience meets the standards of excellence set by the kitchen. Look forward to following the progress of this talented duo and getting back to Piedmont as often as I can in the new year.

“Excellent Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2013

We had dinner here for the first time the other night and were very impressed. The food was excellent; the pumpkin-crab soup (sounds a little strange but tastes great), the beet salad, the smoked pork chop. It was also a nice change to have desserts that you could sink your fork into, the apple/pear pie and date cake were both very tasty.

Service was friendly and professional, and the manager kept a close eye on the room throughout the evening.

This was one of the better meals that we have had out in a long time.

“Wonderful little restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

We found this little restaurant in Durham while visiting the Capel Hill area. While there are terrific restaurants in CH, this find in Durham was a gem! The food was ver fresh and. The wine list excellent. The maitre 'd was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The braised collard greens were to die for! The atmosphere was lovely and tho ' casual, had an elegance. We nearly fainted when the check came---it was so reasonable. We're used to WDC and NYC prices. We highly recommend this restaurant----skip all that Tobacco Warehouse stuff with the average food and even th now famous BBQ pits and head to this little gem. You won't be disappointed!
