An awe inspiring chapel on a par with European cathedrals. Wish we could have heard one of the three organs or the 50 bell carillon. But just sitting in the nave brought a wonderful feeling of peace. There are organ recitals at 5 pm on Sunday and the carillon rings at 5 pm weekdays and twice on Sunday. There is a brochure available that tells the story of the chapel.

I moved to Durham in 1986...met my future husband...married at Duke Chapel in 1989...an absolute fairy tale come true experience. The word Chapel is not an adequate description...It is more on the scale of a massive Gothic ,stain glass studded Mini Cathederal...sits up to 1500. Almost a 300ft walk up the center aisle. A must see ..Handle's Messiah on Christmas eve!!While you visit don't overlook Sarah P.Duke Gardens..another lovely Wedding Venue.. I have attended many weddings at these 2 sites...all beautiful, and exquisite events.
