“Local home-town favorite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

Since the 1050's, Bullock's has been serving up BBQ. From a humble walk-up window, it has grown into a dual-dining room local favorite. Great BBQ and fried-chicken. If you have a few folks with you, go for the "family-style" dinner, with a little bit of everything!

“BBQ 'nuff said”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 15, 2013

You can tell its a quality restaurant at a good price when you see a line of senoir citizens out the door into the parking lot on most nights. We are in our 30's and love going here, Good southern cooking. This is where you should take your friends from out of town looking for that down home experience.

“Worth the wait”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

Great place to bring out of towners. Family style options are good so that folks can try something new, but not be committed. Service fast and friendly. Best to come when it rains. Line is shorter then,

“Best barbeque in the area! Try family style!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

Tommy Bullock has made some of best Barbeque in the Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill areas for over 30 years. This is and always has been a family run business. Barbeque here is lean and fully seasoned, never greasy or oily. Hushpuppies are good and so is the Brunswick Stew! It is worth the time to try this place.

“Ignore the less than positive reviews, Bullocks is good North Carolina BBQ”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2012

We were in town on not so happy family business, but my father in law, a Durham native who has been coming here since his college days wanted to come back, an idea I seconded. The food was great, BBQ, Fried Chicken, Brunswick Stew, Fried Flounder, green beans, everybody in our part of five had a great meal. More food than we could eat, I must have had nearly a pound of BBQ and a huge chicken breast with my meal. There is also an extensive non BBQ menu.

On a personal note, my favorites are the chopped pork BBQ, Fried Chicken, Hush Puppies and Cole Slaw. Please note, after an unfortunate experience with slaw in college, for years, I refused to eat it. Eventually, when Mrs. Red Sox Nation made it fresh, I'd eat it. The only other place in the world I eat it is at Bullocks.

We go here every time we are in Durham, and I look forward to our next visit. I recommend that everyone try it, NC BBQ is different from anything else you will ever have, just ask anyone who went ot Duke or UNC, and very enjoyable compared to the usual tomato based BBQ.

A few notes, no beer, wine or spirits, but all the tea and soft drinks you can hold, and they do not take credit cards. Old School.
