“Great breakfast decent coffee.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

Decided to try this place out for breakfast prior to leaving the area since the reviews were so high and it did not disappoint. The omelets were fantastic, fluffy, and filled with quality meat and veggies. The biscuits were excellent as well, right from scratch and the apple pie was also quite good. The espresso I had was pretty good which is always a plus as most southern coffee is never that good. That was the only small complaint.

Hello "manonthemoon"

We are delighted that you decided to check us out. We love our fresh local eggs & veggies! Our pastry chef is phenomenal and always creating simply delicious desserts. Our espresso is Lavazza - Italy's favorite coffee. I will confirm that we are doing everything correctly there.

You are wonderful to take the time to talk about our favorite cafe. Thank you for "Five Star" review and we look forward to seeing you again when you are back in town.

Many thanks!

Laura

“Delicious!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2014

Ate here for the first time and had a wonderful meal, so it will become one of our favorite places to eat! The shrimp and veggies were delicious, but the chocolate cake was divine ( luckily I got the last piece of the evening)!

Hello Cheryl,

Amazing! Thank you for the "delicious" review. We are thrilled that you enjoyed our cafe and look forward to serving you again! Our pastry chef always creates something "chocolatey & divine" in addition to all of the muffins, pies, cheesecake, mousse, raw desserts & more.

Thank you for your kindness - we look forward to seeing you at The Refectory Cafe®!

Happy New Year!

“Need to please lots of different types of diets? Go here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

We lived in Durham and when making a return visit asked locale friends for recommendations. We have a daughter that needs a low fat diet, but also have a teenage son carnivore. We wanted choices for everyone. Refectory was great! With lots of options for carnivores, vegetarians, vegans, and even raw items identified. It is also modified cafeteria style, where you go along a line and pick out item. Hot entrees are prepared and brought to the table. So it was fast and would work great for groups needing separate bills or people arriving at different times. Food was delicious with lots of nice twists on familiar foods. The dessert looked fantastic, but we didn't have room. Prices very reasonable for the quality and presentation of the food.

“Great Find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

My boyfriend and I stopped here on the way home from Cary and loved it. They have a large variety of items to choose from. We ordered chicken and waffles, tomato soup and fresh fruit. Everything tasted amazing. The staff was extremely helpful and polite. Will definitely return if we pass though Durham.

“Another Food Triumph on Chapel Hill Boulevard”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

The Refectory Café fits in well with the other excellent restaurants in this neighborhood. There is a concern for sustainability and healthy food. The atmosphere is simple and appealing. The food was outstanding. The meat on my short-rib sandwich was tender and flavorful. My daughter's chicken dish was simple yet full of flavor. The prices are quite reasonable. A wonderful eating experience recommended by local friends.
