“Not what I was looking forward to.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

I had heard such amazing things about this place- I was really looking forward to eating here. It let me down. The menu options are GREAT, and the concept is really clever. Our experience just left a bit to be desired. I was expecting fluffy waffles, but they were flat and dense. The chicken was good, and the shmears taste great. I ordered hot tea, and the only options were chamomile and a terrible raspberry herbal tea. There was a group heading to a formal dance seated right beside us, and they were loud. It's also a lot smaller than we were expecting, so if you're going at any kind of busy time, you'll have to wait. It just wasn't a great experience.

“Worth a visit for the local experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013

Of you like the local 'hole in the wall' thing then this place is for you. A weird combination of southern fried chicken and waffles with a scoop of flavored butter on the side. Perhaps add some mac and cheese in case there wasn't enough calories already :). Surprisingly tasty! Service wasn't the fastest but it was attentive and homely. Worth a visit for the local experience.

“Great comfort food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2013

Wonderful little restaurant to get your fill of delicious chicken and waffles. Just plan ahead and make reservations because lunch time and weekends are really busy (we waited an hour last Sunday.) Decor is jazz-themed with big, bold portraits of jazz greats on the walls and jazz music humming in the background. Reasonably priced menu offers set combinations of chicken (legs, wings, cutlet, etc.) on top of a big waffle (sweet potato, blueberry, classic, gingerbread, vegan) with a side (fruit, mac n cheese, spicy greens, etc.) House made shmears (peach-apricot, choco-hazelnut, strawberry creme, etc.) are a flavorful alternative to maple syrup. Don't miss!

“Sooooooooooooo scrumptious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2013

What a great combination. Chick and Waffles. And that shmere that they give you.... it is so tasty. You almost don't need syrup after putting that on your waffle. Grits are so flavorful and creamy that you just cant eat just one spoonful. Chicken was seasoned to perfection. If you are ever in the area please make a reservation and stop by. You will not be disappointed.
