Got the hotel for $41 + tax on Priceline. Nice lobby and common areas, rooms are roomy but furnishings are dated. Hotel has musty smell throughout, but not overpowering. Paid a $50 fee to keep the dog here--specially designated dog room was fine--clean with comfortable beds. Wireless internet did not function for entire stay, and $9.95 was reversed by front desk. Bottom line is--you can do better.

yuck! we had reservations for several rooms for a week while my mother was being treated at Duke hospital. We checked in and left within 30 min. the place is old, smells funny, room was not clean, 'free' wireless internet did not work, staff was indifferent.

My husband daughter and I stayed on a recent trip to visit Duke for two nights The ambiance ends with the lobby. The room was musty despite our attempts to air it out over the two days. Hot water was not available on both days for one of two morning showers. Rugs in corridors in need of cleaning. Rooms very old fashioned. Old style tv, decor and rusty bathroom fixtures. Will not be back. Priceline shame on you for passing this off as a 4.5 star hotel !!

This hotel is GREAT! Big rooms, with plenty of furniture and open space. The floors, ceilings and walls are clean with a nice clean bathroom. It is old, but old is nice. You can walk with bare feet. The beds are really comfortable with big pillows that are SO comfy. In the rooms, you feel safe and you can't hear the people around. The staff is friendly and helpful. There is no bedbugs or cockroaches but there is a bug trap under the air conditioner, but that's better then having the bugs in your room. The shower is either HOT or COLD, and it switches during a shower, but that's O.K. The restaurant is nice and has big servings. It's really close to Duke University, and that's why we were staying. The towels and bedding is clean and they change them and clean your room daily. The lobby was beautiful with free internet access and friendly workers. Overall, I definately reccomend this hotel to everybody and I wish I lived at the Millenium. The bad reviews aren't true. The Millenium Hotel is DEFINATELY the best hotel ever!

A charming hotel. The room decor is a little dated, but the room was very clean
and bed comfy. The room was also a little more spacious than the newer hotels. We ate dinner in the restaurant and the food was very good.
Very quiet. They offer a nice rate for Duke medical patients. We plan to stay there in the future. .

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms are very clean and very quiet. When we first arrived, we were hesitant after reading many reviews on here. While true, the hotel is older than most, it's still in great shape. The lobby is beautiful as well as the restaurant and bar area. The pool and spa was very clean, and beautifully decorated. This is a very charming hotel. We learned that it is one of many around the world, including Paris, and Dubai. We would definitely stay again.

For what I paid for it (bid $42, after taxes around $55) and for 1 night, it was a great deal. But if I had paid rack rate for it, I wouldn't have been very happy.

This is a 3.5* according to Priceline, but it should be a 2.5*at least. The staff was nice, the area was secluded and quiet, and no bedbug evidence and the sheets were clean, but that's about it.

The fixtures are old and worn, some with rust and wear, the sinks had old steel handles that didn't turn easily (or in the same direction). The door hinge on our bathroom door had so much rust it took some pressure to close. There was some mildew on the wall and the wallpaper was peeling everywhere. The carpet had some staining.

The TV was very old. I don't expect a flatscreen but I do expect something in the last 15-20 years for a 3.5* hotel. You couldn't use the remote unless you were standing in front of it.

They had a ton of staff, lots of housekeeping and they would greet us whenever we saw them in the hallway. Very nice. The lobby was beautiful. I didn't visit the restaurants. The area is very secluded which we saw as a plus--quiet and off the main roads, but near the interstate. Downtown is 5 minutes away by car, and it's near Duke U. But, these things are only good if you have a car. It's too far away from things if you don't.

We did not complain. As I said, for the price, it fit our needs for that one night. I did fill out the "after your stay" survey on Priceline. I wish more people would, as this would (may?) lower their star rating until or if it gets remodeled.

All in all, if this hotel was remodeled (heck, even new hinges, sinks and wallpaper) I could see it being a 3.5*.
