“Consistently shaky”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2012

I am generally a fan of Indigo Hotels. I stayed here last November, where things went amiss, starting with being given a key to someone else's room and walking in on that person. Since I was given some compensation on that trip, I thought I'd give them another try since I like Indigo. Stayed there again last week, and there were a long string of mis-steps. Nothing catastrophic, just lots of missed details. I was there for 4 nights, and there was some new glitch every day. Not what I expect at $152 per night in Durham, NC. It strikes me as having some overall management problem - or poor staff training. They mean well, but it's just a little off. After writing a detailed email outlining all of the things that went wrong on my second stay, I got an email back from the hotel manager apologizing but then going into a litany of how many awards they win for service and how great they are. Nothing bugs me more than this kind of clueless response to a complaint - my experience did not come close to what he was telling me. It's time to be quiet and listen. Next time I'm in RTP, I'll be trying one of the many other hotels within 2 miles of the Indigo - very competitive market, and especially at $152/night, they need to try harder and oil their machine.

Thank you for giving the hotel a second chance. Things occasionally go wrong we just ask for the opportunity to fix it or make it right. It's our goal to not only meet expectations but to exceed them. I am sorry that this was not the case for you during your stay. If I recall you were the guest that had an issue, reported it to the front desk, and told the Guest Service Agent to "Just send something free up to the room like every other hotel." We appreciate your feedback and will use the constructive criticisms to make our product and services better.

I totally enjoyed my stay at the Indigo. The room was great and comfortable. They upgraded me to an executive suite and I'm extremely gratful. I soaked in the jacuzzi with my wine to get rid of an extremely long day. The only negative would be he 'bistro'. Not much of a food selection, but tan again, most of the hotels in the RDU area are the same or worse. Definitely try this hotel, you won't be sorry.

I'm glad we could upgrade you to the Executive Suite and that you could get the relaxation that you were looking for. Next time you are in the area give our Bistro a second look. We have added new items and have a nightly special. Thanks for the great review.

We traveled from Pa to NC. This was one of the best hotels we ever stayed at. The staff was Great. I would recommend this to anyone weather its family fun or business. The room was spacious and clean. The atmosphere was stress free, relaxing, and smell very refreshing. The staff went to extra mile to help us in everyway. I have to say one Staff memeber really was a blessing to us. She was very sweet, personable, and made us feel comfortable. I would stay at another Indigo Hotel again with out question.

Chose this hotel based on location (close to RDU and easy access to Chapel Hill). Depending on the rate you get (shop around) this could be a decent value or not. Every staff member was helpful and tried hard but there were a number of things that consistently went wrong. Like many hotels, they really try to be "green". But seriously, it shouldn't take 10 minutes to actually get enough hot water to think, "wow, it's hot". Besides that, what do you have against actually getting wet? I've traveled all over the world and this was hands down the worst shower head I've ever used. We brought this to the attention of the front desk, along with the nasty stain on the comforter which did get replaced, and there was just no explanation for the shower head. On top of that, each morning we left a tip for the housekeeper and a note asking for 4 full sets of towels. Never did we get more than the allotted set of 2 without having to go downstairs and ask for more. Every time we asked for more towels it seemed that the washcloths in particular were like gold.

So, my tip to travelers is to sharpen up your plumbing skills and install your own shower head and take extra washcloths, you might be able to trade them for something really nice!

My tip to the hotel staff is to put out some free coffee for guests. If I want something fancy, I'll be happy to buy it from your restaurant. However, if I just want a cup of coffee in the morning, just give it to me.

Dear DazeawayNE,

Thank you for your feedback about the hotel and staff. It was great to read that every staff member was helpful. I was disappointed to read that your shower was less than favorable regarding the pressure & temperature. The hotels Director of Engineering will address the plumbing issue.

In room coffee and towels are typically replenished daily or upon request, I am sorry this was not the case during your stay. We employ many people with diverse ethnicities in our housekeeping department and some are still trying to learn English as a second language. I apologize if there was some miscommunication about the note that you left. I will certainly address this so that our future guests may not have the same experience.

We greatly appreciate your business and would like to welcome you back the next time you are in the Raleigh-Durham area. Please allow us the opportunity to deliver our typical level of oustanding service.

Best regards,
Mike Riccardo

This hotel came highly recommended to me by a colleague of mine. I had a chance to experience it for myself on a recent business trip. I have stayed at all types of hotels all around the world. From Paris to Tokyo and in between. I can honestly say that this hotel is one of the very best! I was greeted at the front desk by very friendly, customer oriented staff. As I was walking up to my room, the general manager, I beileve his name was Michael, introduced himself to me. He assured me that my stay would be excellent & to contact him directly if there was anything out of place, or needed to be brought to his attention. Needless to say, he never recieved a call fom me! The room was immaculate & the bed super comfy. The experience from check in to check out was top notch! I know if you decide to give this hotel a chance you will not be disappointed. Next time I'm in the Durham area, they will have my business!

visiting family and friends in the Raleigh- Durham area for a week in March. Weather was great and the Hotel Indigo provided a relaxed and stress free atmosphere during our stay. The room was spacious and clean, with maid service friendly and a great job done. The pool and Hot tub were a nice surprise also. We took various day trips in the area and found the hotel to be a good central location for this. The staff had a smile at all time and the overall appearance was clean and well lit.

My stay was from 4/3-4/6/12. This hotel was awesome and a great choice for a few nights stay. It's perfect for a romantic night, business traveler & even the overnight/early flight customer. The bed is fantastic & I love the Aveda Bath Amenities! Special recognition to Jackie & Andrea @ the Front Desk, Ray for the Shuttle and Barbara in Sales...you are all FANTABULOUS! I must add the property has meeting rooms which are perfect for training sessions and intimate parties. The restaurant at the property hires Culinary trained chefs! I'd definitely take advantage of any package they offer which includes something from their kitchens! There's also some nearby restaurants you can get the shuttle to, drive to &/or have food delivered. I'm looking forward to staying at Hotel Indigo soon enough!
