“Very nice property.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

They have renovated with the new Courtyard by Marriott concept, apparently one of the last to do so. So it is clean and nice. The breakfast area was not complete, however so all we had was a continental breakfast on a table out in the lobby. So I can't speak about the food. But it was supposed to be completed this week. I did like their Starbucks coffee choice and the fact that they had a real carton of 1/2 and 1/2 for the guest to use, not just non-dairy creamer. I had a king room with a sofa. The bathroom sink area is pretty tight so if you have multiple teenagers or adults in the room that will be an issue. Two adults are not standing in that area at the same time. The shower/tub was good. Kind of a cheap shower curtain though. My biggest complaint, the towels. They were like sandpaper. The worst ever. There was noise from Highway 55, which is not a major highway, but it still woke me up in the morning so a sound machine would be good. The staff was nice and friendly. It appears to me they are trying to duplicate Hampton Inn's, but everything is a just a little cheaper feeling.

Room Tip: Don't get a room that faces the front parking lot, or that is near the ice machine. I wasn'...

Enjoyed a one night stay for business. Taxi to hotel costs about $38. Did not see any signs of renovation and hotel looks nice including lobby area. Stayed in a spacious king room with sofa. Only minor complaint was that there was not a hair dryer in the bathroom. It would be nice to have take-out menus in room for local delivery since room-service is not available. However, there is a very nice bistro in the lobby area with nice comfortable seating and the very friendly staff prepares freshly cooked hot food (burgers) and prepared while you wait salads which were excellent.

My husband has been working in the area and I came up for a few nights. During our stay they have been renovating. The lobby looks beautiful and the staff is very nice. The rooms aren't cramped and are very clean!

Hotel is under major renovations. Dumpsters out front, reception is in a makeshift guest room, etc. Had I known this, I would have stayed at another location.

With that said, my room was clean and the staff was very pleasant and helpful. It was very located conveniently close to RTP. A lot of places to grab a quick bite to eat in the immediate area.

I would return to this hotel ONLY after renovations completed.

Dear ericl1098, I would like to thank you for taking the time out of your day to submit a review of our property. I am very sad to learn that your stay was not as enjoyable as it should have been due to the current renovations taking place in our lobby and guest rooms. We here at the Durham Research Triangle Park Courtyard by Marriott are working hard to inform guest about the renovations prior to checking-in and to minimize any possible noise disturbance.

I am happy to inform you that we are approaching our date of renovation completion -- which means our hotel will offer the brand new Courtyard Bistro, public and lounge areas, and updated guest rooms! We would be truly estatic to welcome you back here at the Courtyard by Marriott! If there is anything I can do to ensure a fulfilling stay during your next visit, please, feel free to contact me.

At Your Service,
Antonio L.

First of all the place is undergoing major renovations so when you pull up all you see are dumpsters and
the "front desk" and breakfast area have been relocated to a guest room and meeting room respectively. Big points to the front desk and kitchen staff who were very nice and helpful under ridiculous circumstances, but Marriott should have closed the place until it was finished. However that is not the nature of my complaint. My problem is the super thin walls. I literally could hear the cell phone vibrating, not ringing-vibrating, in the next room. I heard every word of phone conversations and dialogue from the TV. I have not been in a hotel with this level of noise issue for decades. I will never stay there again.

No lobby. No lounge. Not a great way to be greeted after a long day in meetings then a long drive. Lots of restaurants nearby, but kinda wanted to not have to go out. Room was fine-clean and fresh. Should be dandy once rpthe dumpsters move on and it's a real hotel again.

Room Tip: Wait til they ate done renovating.

Great location off I-40, very close to gas stations (For rental refuel), to airport, to RTP and to the shops at SouthPoint.

If you don't need Raleigh, Durham and just that - You are fine.

The hotel is clean and the staff helpful. Breakfast is very basic if you need that.
The bed is excellent!

The hotel is getting old, and you can feel it mostly in the shower and the lack of room WiFi.

One more point - Had to fidget with the A/C quite a lot to get what I wanted from it.

Room Tip: Avoid having odd rooms in the 230-260 area - They are "On the road" :-(
