“Made our parents' 50th anniversary dinner a special occasion”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2011

Went with parents and kids/grandkids in a group of 10 - we were seated in a climate controlled porch area with a great view, good music and very good service. They worked with us on getting kids portions for our younger ones, but don't have a super extensive kids menu. My food was excellent - they had a nice selection of desserts too.

Definitely want to go back!

“Inventive food combinations and flavors, delicious meal.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2011

Hard to get a reservation here in June, but at least they DO take reservations, and we were seated promptly when we arrived. We loved the food (most in our party chose from the specials). Loves the she crab soup, the arugula salad, and the scallop special; great coffee and several terrific dessert choices. Service not up to the same standard as the food.

“Terrible experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2011

I was there this fall with three other girlfriends and we chose this spot at the recommendation of one of them. Our food took an hour to come out, during which time our waiter did not check up on us and avoided eye contact. After he brought our food, he seemed to become annoyed at having to serve us. Later when we were paying the check we asked to speak to the manager about the tardiness of our meal and she was very rude rather than apologetic. We were very polite about it so were surprised by her dismissive attitude. She basically shrugged and said "So what." This isn't exactly the reaction you expect after spending about $300 on a meal and a bottle of higher end wine.

Now, none of us are strangers to upscale restaurants so I know I'm not out of line to expect good service at such a place. The attitude the entire staff seems to have is very baffling.

The food could be described as good, but not great by any means. I'm sorry, but your food isn't good enough to make up for poor treatment coupled with a high price-tag. I won't be back.

“Overrated and no kids menu”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2011 via mobile

Perhaps we are a but spoiled by all the great restaurants in the DC area, buy we found this to be just a run of the mill meal. The salad special was good, and the entrees were well prepared, but compared to an equivalent priced meal in DC, this place is decidedly average. The staff was a but stuffy and pretentious (not sure why since they are in no position to feel 'special'), they seemed like they were in a hurry to turn the table, and they had no kids menu. If the prices were not so out of line with the quality, we would come back, but for an average meal, I would not pay thenprice even for a decent view of the sound.

“Excellent meal in a beautiful setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2011

Blue Point continues to be one of the top restaurants in the Outer Banks. The setting is absolutely stunning -- nothing like dining while watching the sun set over the Currituck Sound. And the food matches the setting. Beautifully prepared local seafood can't be beat, but the steak is also well-worth ordering.
