“Value, authenticity, no frills”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 21, 2013

This is the ONLY PLACE IN COROLLA where you get your money's worth. I repeat.....THE ONLY PLACE where you get your money's worth. Every other restaurant's price/quality combo suggests a seasonal business......in other words, they charge considerably more than what you would pay in a normal year round city, which is to be expected. The real question is, how does Philly's stay in business year after year and NOT do that? Makes you wonder, huh? Food is hot, fast, fresh, plentiful and of high quality. I can feed my family for the cost of some drinks at the local bars. Great place. Highly recommended. If you want a waitress to kiss your butt, this is not the place for you. If you want to get what you pay for, go here. Enough said!

“My favorite place to eat in OBX!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

We eat here several times each OBX vacation. If you don't want to wait on line, place your order over the phone - no wait required! Easily the best cheese steak i've ever had.

“The best cheese steak we have ever had”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

From our lodging in Kill Devil Hills it was a 54 mile round trip for lunch, which we did all of the last 3 days of our 4 day trip. Some background. I spent the mid '50's to the mid '60's near Philadelphia. For the past 60 years my benchmark has been Luigi's, next to Willow Grove Park in Abington, PA. Having made several hundreds of attempts to find the perfect cheesesteak, we finally did. To begin: We drove in the shopping center and in the window was a neon sign prcclaiming Amaroso rolls. For those of you not from Phila area, there are the best possible rolls. Next, the steak is supposed to be 10 ounces, but was probably between 11 and 12 ounces. Cut and diced properly thin, it was cooked with the grilled onions, and then covered with PROVOLONE cheese. Then, when it was flipped onto your roll the cheese surrounded the steak, not plopped on the top. It comes in 6 inch and 12 inch sizes.A little bit of marinara sauce completed this great steak sandwich. Before I finish I have one pet peeve.Do not ever lard a cheese steak with CHEESE WHIZ. This concoction, which is used by Pat's and Geano's in South Phila is not the original, and tastes like what I would expect of boiled paste.
If you travel to Florida there are two other very good ones that we found: South A Philly (again Amoroso rolls) in St Augustine, and The Philly Connection in Ft Myers.
