“Favorite Lighthouse”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 16, 2014

Currituck is a stop we make every year we go to the Outer Banks. You can climb for $8.00 and get a beautiful view of the surrounding area. I know this because of the pictures my daughter takes, I don't do heights. There is a nice gift shop on the grounds. Also if you walk/ride down the road behind the lighthouse you will come up to the Corolla Wild Horse Museum and several more nice shops. If you have time one of the several Wild horse tours are very enjoyable.

For those who hate to miss an opportunity to experience the local stuff, the lighthouses on the outer banks are a must see.

“In a nice shady area”

Easy to reach. People are friendly. You can climb to the top for a fabulous view. Best in AM before it gets too warm.

“History preserved today!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 13, 2014

For just $8.00 US per person you can climb up the steps to this the second highest lighthouse in North Carolina. Fun for family, couples, and all ages, though several small children were giving fits for some families, as the climb is quite taxing for some.

The day we climbed the lighthouse the atmosphere was clear, blue skies and no hazy conditions, which made for a perfect view from the observation deck.

The docents are quite helpful and informative and always willing to answer questions, and assist others who are "lost" or cannot walk the correct flow of traffic.

The gift shop located in the house nearby sells many obx and outer banks paraphernalia, and some "old tyme" candy too.
