“Delicious and Super Friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2014

Great restaurant: Food was great, staff was great, atmosphere was great. I have nothing bad to say about this place. My husband had a burger that was delicious, I had the homemade ice cream that was so creamy and delicious. The waitress suggested a frangelico pour over which was perfect! Best ice cream ever!

“Sunday brunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2014

Food was excellent although a bit on the pricey side. Perhaps trying too hard to be "gourmet" or "upscale". Beautiful facility although not my taste in brunch.

“Grand Dining in a Little Area of the Mountains!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2014

The Esmeralda was wonderful from the beginning with the red pepper infused oil for the crusty bread, to the perfect steaks right on to the peach cheesecake. The Esmeralda is by far the best food in this area, and Chimney Rock is lucky to have this gem around.

“Great for a special lunch with friends”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2014

We had not been to Esmeralda since it was rebuilt after a fire back in the late '90s, having enjoyed the old spot for decades. The rebuild, and a subsequent remodel, are beautiful, creating a great spot for a special lunch or dinner.

We wanted to treat a visiting friend to a great lunch in a spot where we could visit over a lengthy meal. Perfect choice! Our greeting from the front desk was warm, with a great overview of the history of the property. The service was five-star. The wine list was good, and we ordered a bottle of Prosecco, which was served perfectly chilled. Soup and salads were delicious (the Esmeralda salad with goat cheese was great). We were interested to see that the dinner menu was available all day by request, and it featured some appealing dishes. We ordered sandwiches from the lunch menu, which is varied, with everything from fried green tomato grilled cheese to Reuben to Philly beef with cheese. We're looking forward to trying Chef George's Shrimp and Grits from the dinner menu, which features great choices from local suppliers.

It would be hard not to have a perfect dining experience here. We're looking forward to our next time.

Our estimation is that you can't go wrong here, however, call to confirm times, as they are a local events favorite and sometimes are not available to the public if a large party has booked.
