“Quality time with my son!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013 via mobile

Keeping teenagers occupied is no small task. My 14 year old and I had a great time sifting thru sand to find gem stones. We went inside to identify our treasures and even had a couple cut and polished. It's nice to have something to do besides stare at a video screen!

“Pretty Stones”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2013

We purchased the family bucket. The kids enjoyed searching through the sand. The day we attended was brisk for the kids, their hands were cold in the water but they still had fun. They found multiple pretty stones. We passed on getting them cut as it was very expensive. The experience was as expected. I would go for fun, not with any ideas of striking it rich!

The gift shop is very interesting and seeing all the different kinds of gems is just super. Wish it had been warmer we would have tryed to find a little gold or a sparking ruby...next time we will with better weather.

My husband and I use to take my son there when he was young on every trip we took to the Smokies, We had a couple of our finds made into jewelry.
