My wife and just I spent three nights at the Casino Hotel and were delighted with the lovely hotel room; it is clean and comfortable and quiet. The Casino is bright and cheerful and has a snack bar and two restaurants. The food is very reasonably priced, too. The hotel has a nice restaurant, as well, and a neat coffee shop overlooking a rushing stream. We have been there over 50 stimes in the past four years! It is our favorite casino!!
We especially like the fact that the Casino has many different five cent machines, and lots of quater ones as well. So many Casinos have mostly 50 cent and dollar machines. The employees are Harrah's Casino at Cherokee are among the nicest of any casino we have visited (maybe a dozen others). They are courteous and always available. When you do win, they come quickly to pay and offer some words of congratulations.
Most of the customers are older folks, and there is smoking allowed in most parts. But there are no smoking areas, and since the ceilings are so high, the air is not nearly as bad as other places like Tunica (we were there last month).
Finally, the setting of Cherokee is very attractive and in a mountain valley with a small river rushing through it. There are many low priced hotels around, many camp sites, and plenty of shops selling Indian souvenirs. The roads are narrow and winding from the East, but good from the North and West (Tennessee).
Go and have a good time. One caution: no one under 21 is allowed inside, though there are arcade and video games in the hotel and casino for children. They enforce this rule. Also, for us this was great, but there is no alcohol available in this county, so be warned. So, no drunks stragger around the casino.
There are lots of interesting places nearby to visit from spring to fall such as Maggie Valley, Waynesville, and the Great Smokey Mountains and the Blue Ridge Parkway. This is a great vacation location, as well as a great hotel and casino.
