“Great Stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

We received a good military discount, a very nice room, and the FREE breakfast buffet was a great surprise. We enjoyed the indoor pool and the gift shop. The staff was very nice and helpful especially Mike. Had a good time.

My husband and I happend to come along this place by chance. We decided to find a place for the night while we were waiting to check into our cabin the next day. They had late check in available and the staff was very friendly. The rooms are a little older but very clean and redecorated. We also recieved a voucher for a free breakfast buffet the next morning at their resturant. Great food for a buffet... Not just old doughnuts an juice. They had eggs, biscuits, hash, gravy.. Etc. It's a great place to stay. Friendly staff, clean rooms and great breakfast included.

The staff was very courteous and offered me a great military discount. The hotel is very close to the Cherokee Mountains attractions. I recommend you make reservations prior to arrival to ensure room availability.

The pillows were the size of marshmallows, and there were only three on the bed! Me and the old man fought all night over who got the third pillow! Today my back is killing me and I snapped at the old man when he asked me if I wanted more hot sauce on my breakfast burrito at McDonalds. I really shouldn't have done that but I told him it's his fault for taking me to a dump in Cherokee for the night. Never again will I stay at this hotel.

We stayed at this hotel in early september.
We arrived around 7PM and here came our first bad surprise : the hotel didn't know anything about our (prepaid!) rooms. The manager said that they have big problems with expedia and that the website never told them about our reservation. She had to call them twice and we had to wait for more than 30 minutes, with all our luggages, in the middle of the lobby...
She finally found two rooms for me, my husband and my in-laws and we quickly put our suitcases in our room (be careful : there is no elevator so you need to carry your luggages up the steep stairs by yourself....!!).
The hotel looks old, the room are average and the bathroom is very very small. I don't like the exterior hallway to access your room and the big window facing the hallway where everybody can look and see you in your room (so you need to keep your curtains closed all day :(( ).
Then we didn't want to have dinner at the hotel (the dining room looks dated and not attractive at all) so we took our car to go have a nice dinner downtown...Bad idea. Cherokee is a dead city with nothing to do but the big casino. We didn't find a good restaurand (only KFC, pizza hut or this type of "restaurant") so we ended in a ugly pizza place where we ate our meal in a plastic plate and a glass of water...
I will never return to this place. Usually we try to stay in the hampton inn hotels (because it's always very clean and they have free wifi and breakfast), the one next door of the Chestnut tree hotel was full, that's why we stayed there...never again...
FYI : When we came back from our trip, we discovered on tripadvisor that the hotel had 2 pools, nobody at the front desk never mentionned it! So I can't say anything about it...

We did not have a reservation but decided to travel to Cherokee. This was formerly a Holiday Inn and was recommended by the Hampton Inn ( next door ). The room was clean and very nice. The dining room served a buffet at $17.99 that evening ( Saturday) and it was much better than anytime we had the buffet at the casino. The free breakfast was good also. Overall we would stay here again.

Because of the friendly staff at dining room and cleaning staff we are going back again. The free breakfast is not just a bagel but a full meal. We have been going there for years and is within minutes of everything you want to visit (ie.,casino. shops).
