We were disappointed with our recent stay at the South Park Marriott. Although the front desk and bellman were very pleasant and helpful, the service in areas such as room service and restaurant fell far short of what we expected. After our room service meal was delivered, we had to call back for them to deliver cream for the coffee and silverware! Needless to say by the time they came back, the rest of the meal was cold. They only had one person bartending and waitressing in the afternoon. No fault to this lonely employee who was trying to serve everyone to the best of their ability, but was not able to provide prompt service. Aside from the service, there was mold growing on the bathtub tiles. I was interested to see if they would clean it the next day (which they did not). The maid service also knocked on the door and asked if we we "needed anything". I thought daily cleaning was the norm for Marriott and it was not necessary to request this service. The computer area for business and customer use was at the junction of two hallways with alot of noise and traffic. The computer was also facing the center of the room making everything on the screen visible to the other people standing around. I would not stay at this hotel again with so many other options in the immediate area.

Upon entering my room, I inspected the room. I observed mold like substance in the right corner of the shower. Prior to leaving the building for dinner, I went to the front to request that the shower be cleaned. 3 hours later I returned from dinner, and the problem still existed. While I was out, I purchased shower shoes, and thank god I did. I showed the photos to the staff member as I checked out on June 25.

We stopped off in Charlotte on the way back from a family holiday on the Gulf Coast, Florida. The hotel is within walking distance of the South Park mall and easy driving to local restaurants.
Very comfortable hotel with friendly and helpful staff on the whole. We did have one unfortunate day when breakfast was a disaster - poorly organised staff taking an age to serve the customers. But otherwise service was exemplary - front desk staff very helpful and one of them gave my teenage daughters a guide to the clubs / bars of downtown Charlotte! Hotel has a bus which will give you a lift to anywhere in a 2 mile radius.

This was my first visit to Charlotte and the stay overall was incredible due, in large part, to my stay at this Marriott. The hotel itself appears to be nestled in a cozy, secluded area but there are tons of shops and restaurants in walking distance. It is my understanding that Marriott took over this property fairly recently. The hotel is immaculate in both the common areas and rooms (the Grill Room could use updating though). The Concierge Lounge is great and offers a very nice selection for breakfast and appetizers. Every staff member I encountered was extremely pleasant and seemed genuinely interested in making sure I was having a good stay. I would definitely stay here again if I am in the South Park area.
