My husband and I stayed at the Hilton last night and I can unequivocally say that it was the worst night in a hotel that we have ever experienced. We got in late, having been to an evening event and from 1:15 to 4:00 a.m., we were forced to listen to a loud party in the room directly next door. We called down to the front desk multiple times and were told that security couldn't do anything about it because our neighbors had left a "Do Not Disturb" sign on their door and since they wouldn't answer the door or phone, the Hilton had no right to "disturb" them. Now if this was earlier in the night, or we were in the Motel 6 at Myrtle Beach during spring break, then perhaps this would be expected. But this was the Hilton at 2 a.m. in downtown Charlotte. We asked to be moved to a different room and, despite the fact that we were able to find a variety of rooms at this Hilton with no problem two nights before, they were now 100% booked! Meanwhile, our neighbors continued to drink and yell and ignore knocks on their door and phone calls to their room. So folks, the lesson here is that if you are at a Hilton property, you can commit murder, sniper fire into the street, do whatever you want - as long as you put that little "Do Not Disturb" sign on your door. Also, since we booked the stay online, the Hilton couldn't give us a refund. And since we didn't choose to check out and find another hotel at 3 a.m., Hotels.com wouldn’t help us because "we consumed three hours of sleep".
