Just back from a two night stay at the Hilton Charlotte Center City. In town for a conference and this one was one of the main hotels. For this location, got a good conference rate. Complimentary upgrade to the executive level was an unexpected bonus. Definitely the way to go...lounge on 22 floor offered a nice breakfast selection each morning with treats such as yogurt with granola, fruit and nuts to mix in; variety of coffee/tea selections; bagels, cream cheese, and even smoked salmon and sliced cheeses and fresh fruits. Appetizer type items each evening followed by a dessert assortment later in the evening. Access to this area really capped off our stay. Room was at the end of the hall on the 22 floor. Very comfortable king bed with nice linens and pillow assortment. Bed was set on an angled wall while the other space in room filled with a two-drawer luggage stand/end table, two arm chairs with ottoman, and desk. A bit tight with all the furnishings but workable. Flat panel large LCD TV wall mounted and visible from side chairs or bed. Internet worked well with ethernet cord and was also complimentary on the executive level floors. Bathroom had a tub/shower combo, sink with granite top and under counter storage for towels. Thick, good quality towels in ample quantity for our stay without having the room serviced. All areas were clean and comfortable. Hotel restaurant had good quality food at prices better than expected. Managed a dinner for two with tip for around $30 (no drinks or appetizers/desserts at that price though). Service was good. Self-parking in the Wachovia garage runs $18 per day. Be sure to keep the paperwork for parking and your parking ticket to give to the attendant upon leaving after your stay. We discarded ours by mistake and had to recreate the needed paperwork before being able to exit the parking garage. Another tip...The Overstreet Mall adjacent to the hotel is only open during weekday business hours (closed by 5 pm weekdays and not open on weekends). Several restaurants close by but not obviously so. Be sure to ask hotel staff for recommendations and directions. Short walk to the convention center. Staff we encountered were friendly but didn't offer much in the way of suggestions for things to do. Fitness center/pool at the YMCA connected to the building for a daily pass rate. All in all, a very pleasant experience.
