I was booted from my connecting flight on US Airways due to motion sickness caused by my previous flight from Nashville, on a junket plane in poor weather. I arrived with six others around midnight. The concierge had an attitude even over the phone when I called to catch a ride on the free shuttle over. My first room was infested with ants, due to a left-over cheetos bag lodged between the bed and the night stand.

My SECOND room had a dirty ink-stained quilt on one of the beds. I slept in the other one, because I was head-achy, and still dizzy from that rough US Airways flight. I was not up for moving to yet a third room. Don't get me started on that airline. They just dumped me by the exit, and said 'Away with you, " basically. If I was REALLY incapacitated, I probably would have died right in the Charlotte airport, if it was left up to the airline. Anyway, I requested repeatedly an extra blanket from the concierge, knowing that the quilts on the bed had not been changed. She told me that housekeeping was also the driver, and that he was busy picking people up from the airport, due to so many cancelled flights.

My stay was free, but if it wasn't I would have demanded my money back. The ice machines did not work also. Overall, a [--] poor hotel, that should be avoided, if at all possible.

The sheets etc. were extremely high quality. Room was clean and neat. Breakfast included waffles and sausages. Appears to be freshly painted.

Where to start - like many we misconnected and were stashed here by the airline. Had 3 very young kids in tow and had to kill about 18 hours.
Positives: We were upgraded to a "suite" for no cost. By suite I mean larger room with a couch but no lamps. Cracker Barrel across parking lot.
Negatives: Under renovations - painters set off fire alarm. Staff could not locate any crib or pack and play with all the pieces, so my 6 month old had nowhere to sleep. Toilets continually clogged - other guests had same issue. Room, esp bathroom, not very clean. Room was straight out of a weird 70's movie.

That this place used to be a La Quinta explains things a bit.

This is a hotel with exterior room access only, ie no indoor hallways etc. The windows of many of these rooms are covered with plastic, under renovations apparently. This wasn't made known to me when I booked the room at the front desk.

But the main issue was the smell when I opened the door ! It was an over-masked type of smell, like they used too much scented cleaner to cover something up... but the scented cleaner isn't very nice. I almost switched rooms, but didn't want the hassle. I left the door ajar (with the night lock on) and cranked the A/C to max, and that together with my adjustment of the scent seemed to help.

Nice king bed, quite comfortable. High speed wireless worked well. One-cup-at-a-time coffee maker was good and quick.

This hotel is under the approach path for Charlotte-Douglas Int'l Airport, so if you don't like the roar of jets going overhead, you might not want this hotel ! The door sealed the noise ok and the A/C fan helped too. I am a pilot actually so I quite honestly like the sound of jets cruising low overhead.

Although breakfast is available from 6:00 am onwards, when I went down at 8:00 am the staff were just making coffee then, and the garbage was overflowing.

I don't recommend the pool (see picture).

There are about 10 hotels within a mile of this hotel all along Queen City Dr. and the area. There is a Food Lion about 1/2 mile away.

We missed a connecting flight and were given a room here by the airline. The quality of the hotel is below what I would have expected -- the building is old, and right next to the highway. My biggest complaint was that the hotel provides only sheer curtains - and a light from the parking lot was shining directly into our room all night -- I couldn't sleep under these conditions. Also a lot of highway noise.

The beds were actually pretty comfortable with nice sheets. However, I would only stay here if you are looking for something cheap and don't mind a lighted room at night.
