When I read, “Felt like I was walking in a trailer,” I understood the writer to mean the room was small. Having just made a reservation at this place, I was confused because I had intended to make a reservation at the same motel where I had stayed overnight a year earlier between flights.
As I later learned, it was one and the same place. But I would never have known it from his description.
If the floor creaks, it’s because you’re walking on a wooden floor under that carpeting instead of hard concrete. These rooms are accessible only from outside covered walkways and when it rains, I guess you hear the rain. The buildings are of good, expensive construction and well maintained.
The neighborhood is not the best and this is usually true about neighborhoods near large airports. But you should not have any trouble walking to the nearby restaurants.
The room itself, I will guess, is larger than most in which you have stayed. It has two queen-sized beds with nightstands and lights next to each, a love seat sized sofa, table and chairs, a 7 foot long low-boy bureau with many drawers and designed so you can place and open your suitcases on top.
The room has a mini-fridge, a microwave, an ironing board and iron, a hairdryer, and color TV.
The room is so large that with all these furnishings, it is not crowded.
And yes, it does appear to be a family-run business.
If you’re taking their free shuttle van to the airport (about 8 minutes away), check their departure times and say which one you will be on. It normally leaves every half-hour in the morning.
