We booked this motel on the fly to have a place to stop and sleep while driving home from Orlando to Pittsburgh. Reviews werent terrible on the place so I booked it. Upon arrival, there appeared to be homeless people and strung out drug addicts sitting on the stoop to the section of the motel that was being renovated. As we pull up to the lobby, we find 4 police cars out front. My immediate thought was to drive away!! My husband walked in with me and we get the full story from one of the workers wives as to what was going on. Apparently her husbands foot was run over by one of the patrons?! They had trouble getting our registration from booking.com. It took three people and they finally got it. They were all very friendly, but cell phones were ringing loudly behind the desk and one of the workers couldnt even hear what i was saying over her phone. The police also kept coming in and interrupting our check in to ask questions of the workers which i thought was sort of rude. I wouldnt have minded so much if they had at least said "excuse me." We get to our building and find that there are matresses and building material all over the front stoops of this area as well but there are at least some cars of other guests. I felt like i was in the Bates Motel. There were sketchy looking people milling about for most of the evening as well. The pool was not even open, though i doubt i would have let my kids use it with the strange company wandering about. The room was fairly clean however the bathroom was old and very dimly lit. A portion of the floor felt like you could fall through if you stepped on it wrong and the air conditioner was so loud i couldnt fall asleep. I wasnt expecting much for the cost, but the room was the only part that was really ok. Once i was inside, i was afraid to leave it. This hotel really needs to clean up the outside company if it wants to project a better image to people.
