As soon as I arrived, there was a doorman or valet ready to take my bags. I was in my room within minutes, that's how fast checkin was. Customer service was quite accommodating. The hotel was big and beautiful with classic decor. It was perfect for my few days in town. My room was a nice size and perfect (away from the elevator). It was located on the 7th floor and my view overlooked the water. Everything was clean and crisp and just right. I preordered extra pillows online at no extra charge and they were waiting for me on the bed. I had the perfect sleep on the bed. Next to the bed was a lounge couch for relaxing or light reading. There was a desk with all the fixin's for me to put my laptop and the free high speed internet service was perfect for doing business and checking out events in the local area. I absolutely loved the sink in the bathroom, looks like a grand zen bowl. There is plenty of closet and drawer space. The room conveyed with a flat panel television and remote and keyboard to watch movies.

Everything in the hotel was grand and the atmosphere was refreshing. The elevators are a bit slow, however, there is an escalater in the lobby that leads you down to the conference rooms and/or through the glass doors awaits the boardwalk. The water has a grand spouting fountain and is a happy home for geese, ducks and a resident swan which is absolutely big and beautiful. The water was surrounded by shops and a boardwalk which offered all that you could want. There is even a wooden structure built in a gated area for sand play for the kids. There is a lengthy sidewalk that leads you all around the big body of water, perfect for an evening stroll or a brisk walk or morning jog. I believe there is an onsight Fitness center but only an outdoor pool which this time of the year was closed. There is a wooden bridge that leads you across to plenty of outdoor restaurants, stores for shopping, paddleboats on the water. This was the perfect location for a conference or a relaxing getaway. Downtown Charlotte is a short ride away. I didn't need a car, because everything I would want to possibly do was in walking distance. I believe there might of been onsite Enterprise Car Rental services. There was plenty of parking and valet service. There are plenty of restaurants Smokey Bones, Applebees, etc. and Chic Filet for a light fare all reasonably priced. There are a few bars also open until 2 a.m. The front desk customer service professionalism was top notch. If you need transportation services, they are quick to offer you Lotus Limousine transportation services of limos or sedans to pick you up or transport you back to the airport and the price is priced with taxes and gratuities matched to the price of a taxi. They will take care of everything for you all they need is your name and time of departure.

The conference areas were spacious and the fare was delightful. There were flat panel tv's everywhere and signs on easels ensuring you knew what was being presented in each room. We had our breakfast, snacks, and lunches catered and it was quite tastey. Each spread was varied and plentiful! I explored a nice sitting area to dine outside of the inhouse restaurant which is nice to escape the crowds and relax.

There is a newspaper waiting for you each morning at your door and you're able to put in an order for room service at your choosing. The front desk accommodated me by printing my boarding pass. They offer Express Check Out simply by calling down to the front desk and then your on your way. I had my laptop but no printer and the front desk accommodated me by printing my boarding pass. All they needed was the airline and flight #.

Bravo Hilton!

We were on a trip with our travel trailer and visiting family in Charlotte where it was a little too cold to stay in the travel trailer. The Hilton was a great option, well located, close to restaurants. Staff were very friendly and helpful!

This is one of those very busy well tooled all around hotels. You have business travelers working in Charlotte during the day, you have families vacationing, wedding parties, basketball treams, and even Edy's Ice Cream holding some type of conference. Probably because of this every member of the staff I interacted with from the waitstaff in the restaurant, to day and evening front desk, to security was great. By great I mean on their toes, knowledgeable, and problem solving.

The rooms were clean and great and large. Many with great views of whatever body of water is in that area. The bath rooms were a little small but modern.

The location is convenient to 85 north and many eateries as well as close to a office max and a kinkos. (if you look at the video you will note I exclaim something at the end that is because I noticed there was a chik fila nearby and I LOVE chik fila) Please note that the business center is really expensive so I would suggest that you use office max and kinkos.

I didn't get off to a good start at the Hilton Charlotte University Place where I stayed one night in mid-December. The only person at the front desk completely ignored me when I was standing directly in front of her. She only answered the phone and made calls without even acknowledging my presence. Eventually another person showed up and checked me in. My first non-smoking room smelled of cigarette smoke and I had to go back to the front desk and get another room.

I had a king room on one of the 3 executive floors. It was a nice sized room, but had an uncomfortable, cheap quality upholstered chair and ottoman. There was a bright floor lamp beside the chair. The room came with robes and a safe. The flat TV had poor reception--dark and grainy.

I found that rooms on the front of the hotel were quieter than those with a lake view because of large and noisy air conditioning fans on the lake side. My front-side room was very quiet.

I self-parked for free. Valet parking is $7.

The business center is a rip-off. You are allowed 15 minutes of free use and then are charged by the minute. The computer was so slow that half of the 15 minutes was wasted waiting for the computer to change screens.

I was given a coupon for a free full breakfast in the restaurant and that was satisfactory as was a late lunch in the bar. I found the complimentary evening executive lounge food sufficient for dinner.

Overall, the good features were largely offset by the bad. I would rate the hotel higher if I'd been treated properly at arrival.

I have stayed at this hotel many times. A few years ago my review wouldn't have been quite as glowing, but they have really spent a lot to effort to renovate this hotel. It now looks pretty new and the rooms are in great shape.

When I travel to Charlotte for work, this is my first choice of hotels. It is located close to the University Research area and is a short drive to most of the major employers on the northeast side of town.

Whenever I have had a problem, it has been addressed immediately and resolved to my satisfaction. The staff is friendly and helpful.

The beds are fitted with new mattresses and an abundance of pillows. The rooms look modern and the bathrooms are clean and spacious.

I have only ever eaten breakfast at the restaurant. It is always good. The buffet food is well prepared and always looks appealing.

Overall, my experience here has been good.
