I stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Charlotte, North Carolina on a business trip in late May. It is conveniently located close to the financial and business district.
While most hotels offer travelers a comfortable room, what seperates them is the level of service the hotel offers. This hotel offers 5* service at 2* prices.
I experienced intermitent ongoing issues with the hotel's wireless network, which presents a problem when away on a business trip. The staff could not have done enough to try and rectify the situation, which included sending 2 different technicians to my room, apologizing profusely for the problem, offering to change my room on numerous occassions, rebooting the hotel's wireless network entirely, accomodating me with free beverage coupons, and untimately asking for me to meet with the hotel Manager to receive a personal apology.
Problems will occur during the normal course of travel from time to time, but how they are dealt with is what seperates the professionals from the amateurs. The front desk associate, who's name is C.K. , did everything within his power to assure that my problem would be addressed as quickly as possible.
Throughout my stay, from the restaurants hostesses , to the front desk staff, to the bellmen, to the cleaning staff, I felt as though I was their personal guest, and was being catered to in every sense of the word. They never failed to greet me with a smile and kind words upon entering or leaving the hotel. I was invited to join in the Manager's cocktail hour in the hotel restaurant. This hotel offered me the type of service that I have received on leisure trips at the Ritz Carlton and at The Four Seasons- the type of individual service that people pay a premium price for. However, the rates here typically hover around the $100 per night range. Definitely a bargain.
The hotel rooms were standard, and comfortable. The in house restaurant has food very reasonably priced. The parking is $15.00 overnight - which is typical. The location just off of the main business district is convenient.
When asking at teh front desk for recommendations about local restraurants, the bellman came over, asked me what I was looking for ( quiet and elegant with upscale dining), and personally brought me free of charge in the hotel van to a restaurant that turned out to be exactly what I was looking for ( Bonterra restaurant) , and picked me up when I was done dining.
The hotel business center is open 24 hours, is large and comfortable, and offers internet, printing and copying services free of charge, in a nice room adorned by a fireplace.
I would definitely recommend this hotel for business and leisure travelers.
