We stayed one night for a dance convention at another hotel and couldn't have been more pleased with our choice.
DH checked in so I can't comment on friendliness of the front desk staff, but he had no comments or complaints. Upon entering the front door, we were struck by the beauty of the atrium with it's lush jungle-like foliage and fountains. The glass elevators busily sliding up and down the 8 or so floors gave a nice bustle to the place.
We stayed in a king suite, and for the price ($84.15 plus tax/fees) I felt like it was a bargain. The king bed in the bedroom was very comfortable, and the fold-out was more than adequate for the two kids. There was plenty of room for everyone, with the added bonus of having two tvs so that the kids could watch kids shows in the living room and Dad could watch football in the bedroom. Then, the kids could sleep...while Dad watched football.
As I said, the bed was very comfortable with crisp bedding and good pillows. Our only problem with the room - missing blanket and pillow(s) for the fold-out couch - was very quickly remedied by housekeeping.
One other minor issue was the availabity of certain tv channels. The cable was pretty limited, so many of the sports channels were not available. That was a minor problem on college football Saturday night, but wasn't any kind of "deal breaker".
The bathroom was well appointed - no tub, just a walk-in shower. A mild complaint was the narrowness of the shower - I'm a pretty small person, but I had difficulty getting washed without banging the grab-bar or the shower door. But, again, not a deal breaker at all. The furnished toiletries were very aromatic. There were enough towels for all four of us and they were really plush towels. We've had problems with this in the past at hotels who should know we are a family of four but provide only 2 towels. Having a sink area in the bedroom, with a bar-sink right outside the bathroom and an additional sink and vanity in the bathroom was very helpful while getting ready in the morning. Nobody really had to wait to brush their teeth or fix hair or makeup.
We had two "cracks" at the breakfast buffet Sunday morning. Our daughter was attending a dance convention at another hotel and had to leave really early. Fortunately, by 6:50, continental choices were already available and she had enough to choose from to "grab and go" (fruit, muffins, milk, etc). After getting her settled, the rest of us returned to eat. Keep in mind that the price was included in the price. Hot, made-to-order breakfast meals were available and while the line was quite long, the cooks and servers were quite efficient in filling the orders. By the time we were leaving the hotel - about 10:15 am - the hot line looked to be just closed.
I'd read complaints about noise coming from the atrium and requested a room away from the noise. I was initially dismayed that we were on the 2nd facing the atrium. However, at no time was noise an issue. We often have issues sleeping in a hotel if there is unusual noise (road noise, elevator noise, laundry noise...trains, etc). We had no such noise issues here.
Overall, my opinion of this hotel is very high. It looks and feels like a $150/night hotel and carries out the impression with good service. The area is right off I-77, so it was not a stylish or quaint area - rather industrial - but we didn't have any worries about safety, and it's location made it really easy to get into the city. I would definitely stay here again!
