We needed a cheap overnight stay in Charlotte after coming in from a late flight and with the CIAA tournament in town, hotels were scarce and rates were high. I ended up with the HOJO after spending $49 on a 2 star hotel on Hotwire. I didn't expect much and I got what I expected. Basically, it was a place to lay our head before driving home the next day. The property is old and dingy and is located next to a gentleman's club. There is a lot of noise surrounding the hotel and we saw people roaming the street beside it. We didn't even take a shower because the bathroom looked dirty. I've gotten better deals at other properties in Charlotte. This one would not be my first choice, but since I used Hotwire, I had to take what they gave me.

I can not belive how awful this hotel is, when we arrived they gave us a room that looked like someone had just slept in it. So we went to the front desk and they apologized and gave us another room. The smell hits you when you walk in the door. The carpets look like they had been there for years, the walls had water damage,You could clearly see the ceilings had a leak . I was actually afraid to sit down, we went right back to the front desk and got our money back. We left and went to another hotel. Save your money don't go here you will regret it if you do.

I was very pleased with my stay at this hotel. I have stayed at several others in the Charlotte area (including several pricey ones!) and this was the best stay I've had! You cannot beat the price for the rooms. Our room was non-smoking and had no smoke odors. In fact, you could still smell the Lysol when you entered from the earlier cleaning. The continental breakfast was not too fantastic, but there is an IHOP next door and a Krispy Kreme doughnut factory in adjacent shopping center as well!
