Where to begin, this hotel was okay in some aspects, but horrible in others. First, I will start off with the good. The hotel staff, for the most part, were friendly and helpful. The night crew was a little on the cranky side. Our check in was quick and simple, so no problems there.

Rooms:
The beds were comfortable and the room a decent size for a hotel, we had a room and not a suite. The bathroom was cramped and it was hard to squish in and then close the door. The toliets were not very deep and didn't always flush competely. The tub in the shower was slick and slimy feeling, to the point I wanted to wear sandels or go buy cleaning supplies and clean it myself. There was hair in the shower and one the walls that clearly didn't belong to me, so that was a little gross. The windows did not open, so it got stuffy really quick. The air conditioning was very loud and its a little unnerving when it turns on because it makes a horribly loud noise. We had to keep the AC on pretty low just to keep the room from feeling stuffy, even though I was wearing a sweatshirt almost the whole time.

Service:
As I said, the staff was pleasant and friendly and helpful. Only had one staff member who was a little rude, she worked at night and I have no idea what her name was. When I inquired about the free bottled water the reservation said it came with she told me it was only available for those who had a suite, which I did not.

Ammenities:
The hotel boosts of a restaurant, which it did not have and if it did it wasn't ever open. They serve a small breakfast consisting of bacon or sausage, toast, grits, hash browns, cereal, and eggs cooked to order. They had no toppings for the eggs so if you want an omlet it will be just egg. The price was roughly $6 and I felt we could have gotten more at IHOP for the same price. However, the lady who cooked the eggs and handled the breakfast was very friendly and nice. The hotel also claims to have room service, which is difficult if there is no restaurant and there is no menu in the rooms or anyway to get this said room service. They claim to give out bottled water to all their guests. We stayed a week and recieved two bottles of water. The first time I asked at the desk and was given a cold bottle the second time one was left in our room by housekeeping. I was told by different people it was one a day (even if there are two people to a room), or only available for suites, and once just handed a bottle with no questions asked. They need to be a bit more consistant or don't say it is offered. I know it sounds petty but it was warm outside and cold water is nice to have.

Pool
The pool was closed but there was no indication anywhere of this. The gate to the pool was unlocked and anyone could walk right in. The pool was covered in leaves and looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in a long time. The area around the pool consisted of broken cement and rods sticking up out of the ground. It was actually quite dangerous. We inquired at the front desk about the pool and then advised it was closed and in the process of being renovated. That is fine, but for the safety of the guests the area should have been locked and a sign posted outside letting people know it was closed.

Wireless Access
I will say this is the one thing I was very happy with. There is free wireless internet throughout the hotel. I turned on the computer, clicked on my internet browser, and there it was. No passwords, no tricky connections, just simple and it was very fast. The only thing I disliked was the fact that it was complicated to print anything. You have to save your document, go to a website, upload the document, and then print it. We were unable to print out our boarding passes upon departure because the link was not one that was uploadable.

The hotel is nice and clean and close to some shopping and the airport. All in all I was very disappointed with this hotel. We will be traveling out to Charlotte every few months for business and I will not stay in this hotel again.

Safety warning-----vandalism in parking lot. Warnings insufficient, and management avoids responsibility.

While on a business trip I parked new truck IN FRONT of motel. Between 11:00 pm and 6:00 am, window was smashed and belongings stolen. History of this kind of incident was revealed only afterwards. Such predatory behavior is apparently common, as "security guard" ran off a vagrant who lurked around my shattered-open truck even by daylight and as we investigated. Motel offered absolutely no help with repairs or transportation, charged me full price for my forced second night stay (I had to re-schedule some of business trip), plus manager refused to return my phone calls or answer my written request to discuss assistance with any part of my $1800 loss. For reasons of safety, security, loss prevention, trip continuity (it cost me hours and $ to get window repaired) and service, I recommend that my friends and clients avoid this place. It is too bad, as the rooms were fine and the internet service was good.
Note that due to lateness of hour on check-in I left some bags in backseat floor with towel over them. This was a mistake---particularly in light of elevated risk at this property, which is unknown to unwary traveler. Hotel will hide behind "small-print" warnings that they are not responsible for same and likely successfully avoid liability and decline to take responsibility.
Point is: they know of heightened risk and they do not assume responsibility for adequate warning, adequate security, or for any assistance when you are damaged or your trip is interrupted---you are on your own with these folks.

I have stayed here twice now and each time there is one thing that really annoys me. This time it was the AC unit in the room. It was so loud when it ran it woke me up in the middle of the night each time it turned on. It was horrible.

Checkin
I waited 10 minutes to check in because the woman at the front desk was on the phone with someone canceling all kinds of reservations. It sucked because I was in a rush and irked me because she really didn't apologize.

Room
I have platinum status with starwood so I was put on the preferred guest floor and given a "suite". It was a 2 room setup with a sitting room and a bedroom. The room was nice but the AC was horrible and very loud. It woke me up in the middle of the many times because it was so loud. It got so bad I just shut it off so I could sleep.

Bed
As always the starwood properties have great beds.

Bathroom
Nice setup and I had hot water right away.

Internet
No problems with the free wireless internet. I was able to get on right away.

Parking
No problem with the parking lot. The hotel is in a strange location and not the easiest to find right away. Also It a pain to get out during rush hour.

Overall the 2 people I came into contact with at this hotel weren't were friendly. One didn't even look up to acknowledge me. I think I would return again for the right price.

I booked the hotel as my other options were either too expensive or lacked an airport shuttle. This is where the Four Points Charlotte comes in...

After a minimal (~10 minutes) wait in Charlotte Int'l Airport, the shuttle arrived. Check-in was speedy and was upgraded to a 1 bedroom suite thanks to my SPG Platinum status (I wouldn't have had such luck the night before as the hotel was booked then). The agent herself was very helpful in pointing out any dining options.

The room itself, was nicely appointed. The suite itself had a 42" (IIRC) flat panel in both the living room and bed room. The kitchenette was a nice feature though I just wish I stayed longer to use it!

As for dining, do keep in mind that the hotel's restaurant is closed for renovations! There's a KFC right in front of the hotel and other fast food and sit-in choices within walking distance, including a Chinese buffet, steakhouse (Carolina Prime), and IHOP. For anything that you can't get in the gift shop, there is a CVS across the street and a 24-hour Walgreens just a bit farther (which seriously saved me from a miserable night as I was still recovering from the cold back then!).

All in all, I was extremely pleased with this stay. I just wish I could've stayed longer to take advantage of other features like the close proximity to the Lynx light rail!

  • Liked — The room, staff, and the short walk to the Lynx station!
  • Disliked — None that I could think of at the moment.

After waiting approximately 15 minutes at the front desk to check in, we were finally given a room. Upon arrival to our room, the air conditioning unit was not operating properly, and the thermostat read 85 degrees. I called the front desk to inform them of the problem, and they assured me someone would be up to look at the unit within ten minutes. After 30 minutes, I could take no more, so I decided to go out to dinner. I stopped by the front desk on the way out to tell them I was leaving the room, but they could fix the air while I was out. Approximately two hours later, I returned to my room, only to find it in a huge mess. The furniture was completely rearranged and parts of the air conditioner were scattered throughout the room. There was no one working on the unit in the room at the time. I then took my luggage downstairs, and asked for a new room. Upon arrival to the new room, I found there to be no soap and only one towel. I called the front desk and asked them to bring me these items. After they did not bring these items within 30 minutes, I went to the front desk to retrieve them myself. I was rudely told they do not have soap or towels at the front desk, and that I should be patient as someone would bring them to my room shortly. After returning to my room, I waited an additional 30 minutes, and still, no one brought soap or towels to my room. At that point, I took my luggage to the front desk, and asked to check out of the hotel, without my credit card being charged.
