I spent a an unexpected night there recently and was quite surprised at how comfy this newly opened hotel is. The building has been around a long time…it was an unfinished high-rise that got caught in the downturn. Hyatt has done amazing things with it. I understand that the lower floors are condos or apartments. When you enter in the somewhat sterile street-level lobby, you take the elevator to the 10th floor and the elevator opens out onto a lovely lobby and breakfast area. My room was on the 14th floor with a view of the downtown lights (and great black-out shades). The room was crisp, calming, and ultra-modern. A huge tv was across from the bed and the room included a wonderful, comfortable corner couch wit hanging a lamp over it. There were plug-in slots for every sort of device, free wifi and a small refrigerator and single cup coffer pot with a ceramic mug.. The bath had a wide sliding glass door, more than adequate lighting and a generous shower with glass door. I loved everything about the room including how quiet it was. Breakfast was served off the lobby and was exceptional. I could see the chefs in the kitchen cooking and adding hot items to the table. There were open faced english muffins with an array of interesting cheeses and toppings, huge biscuits with ham or sausage and all the other amenities you would expect…cereal, fruit, breads, meats, muffins, yogurt, juices. All was included in the nightly rate. The staff were helpful and courteous. I saw absolutely nothing to mark them down for. A real little gem in downtown Charlotte.
