I went to this hotel just this past thanksgiving, the motel is now under new management and now is running much better. The motel is now open 24 hours, there is security and great housekeeping service. The price is the best in the area. I could not believe that such a nice room with great service would be given for such a cheap rate. The front desk clerk is very nice and made sure our wake up call was put in the system. I would recommend this motel to all my friends and family, for the unbeatable rate and service, this is a no brainer.

Was to stay three weeks , after the first night there was a sheriff's department was doing a door to door search. no housekeeping for the first week.
getting towels was like pulling teeth.
WHEN THE MANAGER WAS INFORMED ALL HE DID WAS LAUGH.
I for one will not stay there, if this is the norm for Villager Lodge I will never stay at any of them!

This motel does not deserve the 2 star rating it displays. Although the carpet, wallpaper and mattresses were obviously replaced since the last reviewer in 2002, the place was just shabby. The sheets did not fit the mattress and kept slipping off all night, the pillows needed to be replaced. The commode was cracked and the vanity had peeling paint.
There was an ashtray and burn marks on the bedspead even though the room was labeled as non-smoking. We were asked if we wanted the phone "turned on". And the office was not open after midnight...in fact, we had to ring the doorbell to check out at 7:30am. Bypass this one!

I stayed at this hotel for one night during the WVU vs. UVA bowl game in 2002. This hotel was in aweful shape. Once you arrive it's easy to see why this is one of the lowest priced hotels in the area. My room was pretty bad. The carpet looked like it had not been vacuumed in a month. The table in the room had finger prints all over it that I had to clean. (It looked like blood I kid you not) The towels were something else. Something like sandpaper I would say. But this room seemed like the Ritz when compared to my friend's room. They had a room that was so aweful that we decided to move to the Mariott for the second night of our trip. They had a bed that wasn't even on a bed frame! They had no working tv. The real kicker is that the key for the door didn't even work! Every time that they wanted to get into their room, they had to have a person from the front desk come to open the door for them with the master key! If you want to say at a cheap hotel, and don't mind bring your own vacuum and cleaning supplies, then this place would be fine. Otherwise, it's worth the extra $15-$20 to stay at a nicer hotel in the Charlotte area.
