“Excellent mezzanine and balcony seating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2013

Great theatre with a lot of seating options with a good view of the stage. Good acoustics and a terrific series of holiday shows in December. It connects through indoor walkways to the Omni hotel which is very convenient.

“Wonderful theatre in downtown Charlotte”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

The Blumenthal Performing Arts Center attracts some of the best of Broadway shows with their "Broadway Lights" series and other performances including the Charlotte Symphony. During December, there are always holdiays themed shows. I have attended Broadway plays since the renue opened. The ushers are very knowledgable and helpful. Parking can be a challenge in downtown and now parking is included with some shows. For the parking situation, that is why I didn't give this 5 stars. I look forward to attending more plays and events at this dynamic performing arts center.

“Time for a facelift!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

First of all, know that the Blumenthal Theatre brings the best of Broadway to uptown Charlotte. The shows are top-notch and the theatre takes great care to survey ticket buyers about what shows they would like to see there in the future. The people are always very friendly and the ticketing is easy, even if you need to make changes. Two problems with the building: the dated wallpaper, paint, and carpet, and the lack of convenient bathrooms. Know that the restrooms are on the Orchestra level only, so if you're in the Grand Tier Circle or higher you will either not want to drink much before you go, or you will need to rush out of your seat and down the stairs to beat the crowd at intermission! The theatre works pretty efficiently with what they have - attendants in the restrooms direct traffic quickly - but more than once I've had to go back into the theatre without making it through the line in time. Parking is a block or two away and can be prepaid at the show which makes for a fairly quick exit from the parking decks. Likewise, intermission concessions can be pre-ordered so long lines are not a problem at the concession stands. Fixing these two problems would take my score to excellent!

“Nutcracker”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2013

Am a season subscriber to the Broadway series, however, we also went to see the NCDT version of the Nutcraker. What I like is they have booster seats for kids, which is very much appreciated. I am not a big fan of sitting in the balcony, but I had orchestra seats, so no worries.

How lucky Charlotte is to have such a facility.
The arts are flourishing here and the acts are varied and the best of the best.
