“Compact, but very large on fascinating”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013

This is not the Air and Space Museum in Washington, DC. However, to see the military and civilian aircraft displayed in a flightline hangar, reminiscent of the Smithsonian's Udvar-Hazy museum at Dulles Airport, is a real treat. The overwhelming highlight, and the star of the show is the ACTUAL US Airways Flight 1549 that was floating on the Hudson River on exhibit at THIS museum. It is a structural mess (and very interesting to see in that condition) along with plenty of the objects that were aboard that day. That's very cool, but wait there is more.

There are historical aircraft, military aircraft (F4, A7) experimental aircraft and even the option to tour the interior of an Eastern Airlines DC-7. Don't miss the landing gear from a 747 on the dark back wall.

For an afternoon trip, it's well worth the money, for it's educational value it's priceless.

“Very interesting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

I tend to visit these aviation museums everytime I stay close the an airfield. This was one of the most interesting ones. The "Hudson River miracle" was impressive. Personally I was also suprised to find my favorite planes under one roof. The Cessna, AV8 Harrier II, F4 phantom II, A4 Skyhawk, CH 46 E Vertol and the Cobra.
I was very nicely welcomed and guided there. I had a very pleasent chance to chat with a guide and former pilot about the aviation in the past.

“Great Place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 16, 2012

Wow, what a wonderful place to go in Charlotte. So much to see, not enough time to do it all. Will keep coming back. More than a bunch of planes, many hands on and visuals to go along with the displays. Also many knowledgable people to willingly assist and tell the story more for those interested for more details. One of Charlotte's finest.

“Miracle on the Hudson”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

If you want to relive Captain Sullenberger's landing on the Hudson, this is the place to do it. You van gaze at that US Airways plane for an hour in disbelief. The rest of the museum is only average.
